squareeyesParticipantWhen posting an event or an incident, please bear in mind that the post could be a hot potato issue that stays active for weeks and the use of the word “tonight” will be confusing or irritating. Then again, maybe I’m the only one who’s irritated.
Yes, most events happening today, tonight, or right now soon disappear from the forum, but some just keep rising to the top and I get annoyed all over again.

SueParticipantI agree – all it would take is saying “…tonight (6/24)”

JoBParticipanti used Thursday in one that will be a continuing Thursday commitment so i can just bounce it back on the board every tuesday or so…

carrieannMemberJoB, that sounds reasonable. I think the rant is directed more toward posts like the “MKL & husband @ Feedback Lounge *tonight*” or “Tracy from the WSB on NPR *right now*”. (Though I’m not the OP, so can’t speak for them. Just my guess.)

austinMemberThe thread ranting about the use of the word “tonight” in subject lines has the word “tonight” in its subject line.

squareeyesParticipantI supposed I could have substituted with “*******” in the subject line and really got people curious! :)

WSBKeymasterWe don’t follow that rule on the home page because the whole point of the news section of this site is to be real-time, 24/7 news. However, I have been trying recently to be mindful of it if I post something, say, after 11 pm, when only hundreds of people will see it while it’s still “tonight” compared to thousands who will see it the next day. In the case of the forum, though, good point, as almost anything can be brought back to the top, unlike the format of other pages.
