MousePotatoMemberDude, get yourself a WHOLE bunch of egg cartons, find a room in your basement and tape them all to the walls. On the 4 or 5 nights of ‘mayhem’ per year in West Seattle, lock yourself in your new bunker and cower in the corner.
Beyond that, get a life….

anonymeParticipantJanS, maybe it’s nice and quiet in the Admiral but out here in Arbor Heights the 4th hasn’t ended yet. It started 10 days before, and the latest fireworks went off about an hour ago right across the street. According to my calendar, that’s not a “stretch”.

JoBParticipantanonyme..
i share your complaint. some idiot in my neighborhood has lit off a big one every night at about 11 and they haven’t stopped yet.. not to mention the kids who still have an apparently endless supply of firecrackers…
what they are doing is clearly illegal
but it is also the action of private citizens.. not a public event.
we left town during the public events for the 4th…
Julie…
it probably wasn’t all that loud in the junction itself. Sound carries in some really peculiar ways here in West Seattle.
truth is there would probably have been more complaints if the music was classical. Turning mine up is sure to generate complaints from my neighbors but i can play heavy metal without anyone even poking their heads out the door.. go figure :)

villagegreenMember@johnnyblegs – that’s funny! We live about 4 blocks from Holy Rosary and I’ve often thought that if the bell ringing wasn’t somehow related to “praising the lord,” someone probably would start complaining. Thanks for setting up to make that happen – I’m a fan of the mid-day nap as well!

WorldCitizenParticipantCan we have Summerfest every Friday for a couple months during the summer? Or at least car-free nights in the Junction Once a week during the summer?

anonymeParticipantWC, I think that would be a great idea, though weekly might be a bit much. We could have mini-summerfests to coincide with the ArtWalk. With the Junction closed to traffic, vendors could set up in the street. One caveat: music would need to be acoustic, low-key and end at 10 pm. That would make it an event that all generations could appreciate and enjoy.

JulieMemberNow that would be delightful! I would come to such events (I’ve avoided Summerfest for years, simply because the last time I went it was too loud for me).

yeah-meParticipantI love the party in the street! I live about three blocks from the Junction and I love the one weekend a year when I get to listen to live music from my own patio.
I am rather bumbed that they moved the stage away from California and Edmunds…
It was a GREAT festival and the music should be loud.
