Ok, I have to rant now. I know your dogs were cold, but really folks, as I was walking up to PCC today to do some shopping, I had to pay extra attention to the sidewalk. In the slush, on more than one place (on 40th and Hines, on the 3400 block of 41st and a couple of other places) there were piles of poop right on the sidewalk!!!!! You couldn’t clean up after your dogs for what reason? Yellow snow I can deal with, but nasty brown snow..yuck!!! This is really going to be extra gross with the rain.

    Poop Soup!

It is wretched. I’m dreading having to clean up the backyard, but it’s got to be done. Tomorrow.

It’s smeared all over the sidewalk down here. Ooooweee. Who would let their dog poop and leave it, knowing you might ruin someone else’s day.

I was wondering if it was just more obvious because of the snow. But I’m totally with you. I’ve seen dog crap absolutely everywhere. It’s mostly right in the middle of the sidewalks. Cold and snow aside I really cannot believe these selfish, irresponsible people who think this is OK.

I let this go in my own back yard and I’M regretting it. Here’s a thought for those of you who knew damn well you weren’t going to pick it up in the first place (not that I blame you): let your dog crap on your OWN lawn BEFORE walking it – is that so bloody difficult?!!! Then it’s just nasty and YOUR problem, not nasty and everyone ELSE’S problem.

I walked from Alki to the West Seattle Library yesterday. There was dog poop along the entire route. This disgusts me. Then when I got back home, there was a fresh pile on the sidewalk in front of my house. *FUMING*

I’m a dog owner who cleans up after my pet. When it was snowing it was more difficult to scoop, but not impossible. Come on fellow dog owners: always scoop please.

On my many pet sitting walks over the last week or so, I found it actually easier to pick up the poop in the snow because it would rest on top and I could just get a big handful of snow around it and bag it. What moron couldn’t handle that?

I don’t know about picking up my backyard today – it’s definitely poop soup out there. It will be a futile smear campaign.

it’s no more difficult to carry bags and pick up poop when it’s snowy out than when it’s raining…

it’s good to know West Seattle is full of so many pets.. but it would be better not to have to step in the evidence.

On a short (1 mile) walk with my dog today, I came across 7 different piles of dog turds, 6 of which were on sidewalks! The majority of those had been stepped on by unsuspecting souls.

That, coupled with the mounds of trash on every corner picked through by ‘coons, gives the neighborhood a decidedly tacky feel.

It seems to be a case of “spontaneous deposition” — dog feces that appear by magic. I walked to the farmers market and encountered many piles of poop on the sidewalk. I guess if your pouch poops under the cover of snow, you don’t have to clean it up. I cleaned up the nearest pile in my neighbors driveway because I knew someone would track it about, and likely me.

We were walking on Alki today with our dog and noticed piles of poop everywhere, including the sidewalk. Unlucky me, as I went to step over a pile I didn’t see another one and there went my shoes. As my husband said it was easier picking up after our dog in the snow as it made it easier to pick up. I mean seriously, is it too difficult to pick up after your dog? Blech!

Come walk on 64th–blissfully unpooped. The point looks good too.

Seriously…scooping in the snow was SO much easier than dirt or grass – there is no excuse.

And we just picked up the whole backyard after 2 weeks. Oh my god. My husband and I joked that the new Will Smith movie must be based on our dog’s poop (aka “7 pounds”)…LOL

    Angelcrest,

That was my special Christmas Avatar. I will have to change it after January 20th. It is Bush in a manger with “O come let us abhor him” It was a Christmas card I received from a friend last year and I had to save it. Also, glad I wasn’t the only one experiencing lack of scooping, but sad that it also became poopalypse 2008 in West Seattle.

I have a neat trick that I use to remove all these dog feces. I carry a bag of bird seed with me and simply sprinkle each poop with some seed. By the time I walk back the next day most of the pile is gone. I think the birds or squirrels take care of it. Not sure.

I picked up about 25 lbs of poop. i couldn’t pick it up before the snow.

as for you jschu that is gross and not good for the bird or squirrels. Just like uncooked rice isn’t good them either. Pick it up and it’s the responsible thing to do. Oops sorry i guess if it in your yard, you can do that. oh well, i guess when the bird takes a dump on your car…. Karma sucks huh?

seed on the poop. I thought at first it was gross but the dog food I use is organic, so I felt it was “OK” for other lesser beings to eat. they really can’t tell. BTW- I walk my dog but do sprinkle all poops that rude people leave. Hope this helps

There is an awful lot more dog poop than usual in Highland Park and Riverview Playfield, too. Yesterday we did find one deposit that someone had bagged–and then left on a concrete slab near the Pee Wee ballpark. WTF? There’s a trash can not a hundred yards away, for Christ’s sake.
