What’s the quietest coffee shop in West Seattle? Is there one that keeps the background music low during the day?

During the day C & P always seems quiet (except some weekend late mornings get noisy.)

Uptown on Delridge is nice and quiet. It’s also quite cozy.

Uptown off Edmonds is very quiet. Music level varies but i’ve never heard it offensively loud

That’s a good question. We like Ladro (sp?) but end up having to choose between the too loud music inside and traffic noise outside. I don’t recall noticing music at Bird on a Wire.

Great question. Skipper’s, err, Uptown across from 7-Eleven (Tracy — is that correct AP style?) is very nice. Spacious, quiet, nice staff, free Wi-Fi, etc. Quiet does not mean “not busy” either. This spot is very busy, yet perfect for hunkering down. Would be nice if they had some couches and comfy chairs like Diva, which is also somewhat quiet and also busy.

I crossposted this to the home page since it seemed like a fun question – hoping people would then answer it here, but a few seem to be answering it there, so wanted you to be aware of that thread:

Revolution on Admiral just east of California. Jack in the Crack allows Rev customers to park there, and Angie is kind, yet respectful of those wishing to sit quietly to read, study, use the computers, etc. It’s a small place, but a great part of our community.

I agree with JimmyG C&P is usually pretty quiet. Plus free wifi and super nice owners/staff. Good coffee too!

I don’t recall any music at Coffee to a Tea w/Sugar in AK Jct., just watch for live music. But wifi is a little iffy. Tully’s is good for quiet, wifi is good at Morgan Jct., but hit & miss at their Alki location. For Alki, Aimonetto / Pioneer keeps the music low with a mostly good connection. I really like C&P, but the background music has occasionally been an issue.

Now you know why I post infrequently here: I’m working constantly at home or coffee shops. :-)

For me it’s not so much the background music that’s “too loud”, but many places have that cement flooring or other bad acoustics that make the sound of the espresso machines richochet all over the place! So thanks for the recommendations, I will check some of these out.

Uptown is carpeted (very badly in a weirdly good way, I might add). C&P is in a house so there are separate rooms, although wood floors. I think Ladro is very loud!

While not a coffee shop, the Subway next to the Uptown Espresso is also a super quiet place where you can get work done.

I’m writing my dissertation, so I’ve been circulating the various coffee shops lately. Here’s my take:

Ladro–Fine, but the music is usually of the indy variety and very loud. There wifi is free and has always been available when I need it.

C&P–This is my favorite spot of late. They’re super laid-back, with very quiet music and customers. Their wifi has been good as well.

Tully’s @ Morgan–Not my favorite place in the world, but they have free wifi and don’t have loud music.

Tully’s @ Alki–I love this Tully’s. The music is low and the wifi has been consistent. On Friday mornings there is a very loud group that meets there though, and they’re AWFUL.

Coffee to a Tea–A good spot overall. Their wifi has always worked for me and people are usually quiet. They play quiet music.

Uptown–I haven’t really tried this place a lot.

Cupcake Royale–I’ve been here a few times. I like watching people from the barstools. They tend to play loudish music and they have good wifi.
