I can’t find this info on metro’s website. Do all C buses turn into Ds in downtown and continue north? and all Ds turn into Cs and come to West Seattle. Want to use the bus to go to Folklife tomorrow and don’t want to have to transfer downtown, be great just to get on the C here and ride it all the way to lower queen anne. Anybody know anything? thanks

Get on and stay on. Works fine.

I do it all the time for theater and the Storm Games.

this info used to be included in the on-line schedule; the far right column was labeled something like ‘continues as’ for routes that were through-routed as a different route number. For the C/D combo, this info is now on the route map page as all C trips continue as D trips and vice versa:

Depending on your travel patterns, you might want to create and print a custom schedule:

Well we once got on a C going south and it didn’t go to West Seattle. I still don’t understand what went wrong. The driver said, oh this happens all the time. I was late and flustered so I didn’t ask what the deal was.

The majority of the time, the C will continue as a D and vice versa. However, the Control Center might ‘turn back’ a bus if incoming buses from the other end of the route are delayed or if buses are bunching up, so that there aren’t wide gaps between buses. For example, if the WSBridge is backed up and C buses are late getting downtown, some incoming D buses may be turned around in downtown and sent back to Ballard rather than continuing to WS. Otherwise, there are too many buses stuck in WS and not enough in Ballard.

Also, you may have been on an E bus. They look the same and when they first came on line it caused a lot of confusion.

thanks everybody! Also, I had totally forgotten about the Metro Trip Planner facility as I usually only ride C downtown to work. That made it clear that the C I hope to take today to Folklife just turns into the D

And I got on an E bus once as well coming home, ended up at the end of the line down by pioneer square…
