elikapekaParticipantI’ve been contacted by a friend of a friend type thing, so I have no info other than this – apparently a woman in the Seattle area is trying to leave an abusive situation, but has two cats and will not leave without them. Does anyone know of any shelters or programs that will take a DV victim and pets or offers foster care?

elikapekaParticipantHH, thank you. I don’t know the actual person involved or all the circumstances. Would you like me to call you or pass your info along to the person who needs the help? Either way is fine with me.

hammerheadParticipantpass this the them, so if they person in need of help is serious. does that make sense?

KatherineLParticipantPass the info privately! If she’s in a domestic violence situation and her partner learns she’s planning to leave, it could put her in danger.

furryfacesParticipantHi elikapeka. Thank you for posting this.
We were contacted via email a couple days ago by a friend of the domestic violence victim. We offered immediate assistance, but have not yet heard back. Like Starsky, we said get everyone, 2-legged and 4-legged, out now!
Hope she and the cats are safe. Many DV victims will not leave the abusive environment without their pets. Our newest client was the same way–she would not leave her dogs behind. Can’t say we blame them.
