Police Scanner Information

WSB frequently states that they are listening to a police scanner and I’ve always wanted to get one. Recently, I was on my way home and I stopped by the Westwood Radio Shack to make an impulse buy. I ended up choosing a Radio Shack Pro-164 scanner and ran home to start listening to the cops.

I soon realized that I needed to do a bit of research and found lots of different websites listing frequencies, control channels, talk groups, etc.

I have succesfully programmed my scanner with Seattle Fire and Police information and I was wondering if anyone else had any tips about interesting talk groups to monitor or if anyone wanted tips on what you should know before you plunk down a couple hundred bucks for a scanner of your own.

I *can* say with confidence that since I set this thing up, I’m addicted. Be careful or you might become addicted, too. :)
