HelperMonkeyParticipant8:10 tonight, I get a knock at my door from Pinnacle Security. He did flash his badge, and asked me about my current security system and when I last had an update. I firmly told him that was none of his business – it seemed like an odd question. then he claimed to not be selling anything. really? you’re just going door to door asking about my security system. riiiight. young white guys, maybe about 26-30. I don’t care if they were legit, the whole exchange seemed really odd.

JanSParticipantdid you tell him you’d leave your security system off later, so it would be a good night to break in? lol…
I don’t get going door to door cold calling anyone for any reason…Comcast does it , too. I’ve never had DirecTV knock on my door. If they want to tell me something, upgrade something, they e-mail me.

anonymeParticipantThere has been a very suspicious group going door-to-door selling security systems in Arbor Heights for several years now. They change the name of the company every year. I called SW precinct about them & they said they’d had lots of complaints. The desk officer told me that he’d personally chased them off his property. I’m surprised they even showed a badge; last time they came to my door, they had no ID, no information about their company or service – nothing. Unfortunately, the police said the company checked out. Even so, their tactics are unacceptable. I walked them out my gate and told them never to even dare coming back. This was 2 years ago and they haven’t returned.
One more thing: several neighbors had their gates left open by these idiots and their dogs got out.

sacatoshParticipantIt will likely get worse, not better. They’re currently soliciting college students for summer door-to-door jobs: http://www.joinpinnacle.com/
They also get a big fat FAIL from the BBB: http://www.bbb.org/utah/business-reviews/security-control-equipment-suppliers/pinnacle-security-in-orem-ut-11000043

christyinseattleMemberThese guys are SO creepy! Do people actually volunteer the fact that they do not have an alarm system to them?
Yikes!

thansenMemberTwo guys came to my door in Westwood a few months ago. They saw the signs we have in the front yard and told me if I didn’t change to their company, I will be robbed. I told them to leave and they started arguing with me and told me they had to come inside to see what system I had. I closed and locked the door and called the police.
A few laters I saw them walking around to other houses in my neighborhood so I told each of my neighbors what happened and to be very careful.
We have to look out for each other!

mwebbekingMemberA few days ago a guy in his early 20’s with a fake-looking badge and an ADT sticker on the other side of his white notebook was pacing the sidewalk on 36th Ave. SW, about a block south of Thistle. I got a 5-second video clip of him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-nKcHblkHs
Anyone recognize him, his ‘uniform’ or ‘badge’?

luckymom30ParticipantA couple years ago this guy from First Security came to our door and told me that if I would just let him put a sign in my yard he would give me at $3,000 security system, then he demanded my SSN which I refused to give him so he pushed open our front door and got inside. Somehow I got him back on the entry porch and told him to leave or I was calling the police. He left only to harass my neighbors some of who took his picture from a distance and posted it in the Westwood Village post office. A couple of weeks later I learned from our mail carrier her friend was assaulted by a guy claiming to be with First Security. This was in Arbor Heights. We now don’t answer when someone knocks unless we are expecting someone.
