ellenaterMemberHi everyone.
Is there a place in WS or around that transfers VHS to DVD? I have an old student movie I’d love to have on DVD but it is the only copy I have so I’d like a personal rec.
Thanks!!!

acemotelParticipantI use Victory Studios by Ballard for media projects. I haven’t compared prices because they have always done such a fine job, so I don’t know where they rate on the cost scale:

pamMemberHonestly the price of dvd recorders have really gone down if you have more then this one project (or have tv shows you want to record). I know this is a little off topic but VHS tapes don’t last forever – if you don’t play them at least once a year they get very brittle and can break, and the voice and picture quality really diminishes over time. I would encourage everyone to get those family videos transfered over to DVD asap, whether you follow the responses to the op or purchase your own recorder.

mellaw6565MemberI have to second Pam. I am a teacher and wanted to transfer a lot of my stuff to DVD, so I went to Frye’s in Renton and got a great deal on a VHS/DVR combo for around $200 or so. It seems like a lot up front, but it has more than paid for itself already.
I don’t know what an outside company would charge, but if you think you’re going to do this more than once, it might not be the best deal.

jbarMemberthere’s a guy on 35th — kinda by Kenyon Hall and the florist, non-descript store front. He’ll put your videos on DVD. A friend of mine did it…

JenVMemberWell, I have a DVD recorder….I tried to hook it up to my tv/vcr and it didn’t work. I also, of course, lost the manual. If anyone wants to give it a try, you’re more than welcome. I just use it for a DVD player right now.

ellenaterMemberJenV,
I’d love to try it. The manual is probably available online, too. I could check. I only have the one tape to transfer so I really don’t want to buy one. Thanks! Here’s my email: eyeheartgiraffe@me dot com
Thanks :)

JennyMemberHas anybody ever had Super-8’s transferred to DVD? How does the quality stack up nowadays?
