Boy, they don’t make laserprinters, or hardware for that matter, like they used to.

I have an old Apple Personal Laserwriter, built like a tank and still works great (I think). However, for employer-related reasons, have not been on the Mac platform for some time.

Does anyone know if this printer could ever work with a PC or if I went back to the Mac platform (I love Mac), could this old dog work on a new machine?

    Thanks!

It depends on which personal laserwriter you have. It may be possible to connect it to an older machine if it has the right connector; A few of the laserwriters were parallel or serial, and you can find those ports on some slightly older but still functional computers. You’d need a USB adapter to connect to a modern pc or mac, but you can find drivers for some of the laserwriters online and toner is available as well. I think you could do it but it would take some figuring. Which model printer is it?

It’s the Personal Laserwriter NT — and boy what a good one it was, or still is. I look at the connections… after using USB for so long, I forgot about these serial and parallel ports. Hopefully I can use this again for something. Compared to the new HP Laserjet we just bought (granted, at the mid-hundred level), the old Apple is so well-built. The casing is solid, etc. The new HP I feel like I have to handle like eggshells the plastic is so thin. Thanks for the thoughts.
