nomorevuParticipantWe are looking for local recommendations for a kitchen remodel – mostly cosmetic quotes. House is 1912 and looks like it may have had some upgrades in the late 80’s but plumbing not to code. The plan is to work with existing structure/size however, it was suggested that opening up the space could prove beneficial. Looking for a recommendation for someone who we can build a relationship with and not luxury. Any suggestions are appreciated.

nomorevuParticipantI really appreciate all these suggestions. I’m going to start here. Someone mentioned that I should already have a design before calling a contractor. Although we have an idea and had some quick measurements done, for our own purposes, is that something any of you can share some quick thoughts about. THANKS in advance.

dhgParticipantI had some ideas for what I wanted. Bill Babb came out, measured the space and drew up a cabinet design. He then gave us the address of a local cabinet shop so that we could see the choices of materials. When we were ready, Better Builders ordered the cabinets and they are beautiful. They are modern but have a retro 1940’s look that fits the house.

Barry2012Participantnomorevu- most good contractors will be able to assist with the design process. If you have some ideas of what you want, they can help you execute. The contractor you choose will have likely done many remodels in the past and will have design ideas…

PDHParticipantWe have worked with Chris Raynor numerous times. I described my “vision” of what I wanted and he drew it up, we modified, and then he executed the plan. He is very creative and we did not need a designer.
