BayouMemberI’m looking for recommendations for house cleaners in West Seattle. I outdid myself last weekend cleaning out my basement and am now fighting a sinus infection. I have horrible allergies and would love it if I could find someone that uses non-toxic cleaners.
I had read good reviews for Amanda’s Maid Service but she’s not taking clients at this time. Other ideas?

JanSParticipantBayou…try Pamela Brummell at 206-427-6454. She has cleaned for me for quite some time. I’m not sure what cleaners she uses, so you might inquire. She posts on here as Hammerhead :)

angelescrestParticipantMy nextdoor neighbor has a woman/service clean who/that uses only non-toxic Mrs. Meyers (is that the name?)…I’ll get the info for you.

charlabobParticipantOnce again I have to second Jan’s recommendation — Pam and her crew are amazing. I left for work with the usual disorder and came home to serenity and clean bathrooms.
I’m pretty sure she uses non-toxic cleaners. (Pam, you might want to say.)

CBMemberMerry Maids (the office based in Morgan Junction) has done great work for me for about 7 years. I think I’ve had to make 3 phone calls (recycle in the wrong bin type) in that entire time.

mellaw6565MemberI would love to have a cleaning service, but always feel the need to clean before they come over!
August 17, 2008 at 7:45 pm #634246
JanSParticipantmellaw..there is that. I don’t expect my cleaning person to clean up my clothes on the floor, wash the sink full of dishes, etc., do my laundry, change my sheets. I take care of that before she/they get here. I use the service for the things like..dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing floors, bathrooms, stove etc. – those things that I would rather devote my time to doing other things. It’s been wonderful. (Actually, I cleaned houses for 12 years or so in a previous life, and I always told myself that I’d have it done for me at some point – love it)

charlabobParticipantThe bob taught me long ago that *IF* you want the cleaning folks to pick up clutter, they will, but it takes away from the time they have to do real cleaning AND you may never find the clutter when they put it away. So we kind of declutter, but don’t clean. And still, almost everytime they find something I thought was long gone. :-)

BayouMemberThe floors are where I really need the help. Between having 2 pets, allergies and a neck/shoulder injury- pushing a broom and mop around has become rather aggravating (to my sanity and my sinuses). I did try to declutter before Pam came by for a consult this morning. I don’t expect them to organize everything, just make the fur go away.
Thanks again for the recommendation!

angelescrestParticipantAnd I will get you the recommendation for the Green cleaner tomorrow when they’re back from vacation!

hammerheadParticipantThis is pamela, thank you so much for your references. I want to be very careful as I am not supposed to advertise.
I have met the people. Discussed the “green” products. They REALLY are not what they are all cracked up to be. I have used alot of them.

JanSParticipantthat’s OK, Pamela…we’ll do the advertising for you :)
