HunterGParticipantMy little sister is 7 months pregnant and is in danger of losing her baby due to a hit and run accident that occurred yesterday.
Accident details:
At approx 5 p.m. on October 4th my little sister and her husband were hit by a Blue Dodge Dakota truck at the intersection of Delridge Way and that big hill that goes up to Pigeon Point (near Allstar Fitness). Driver sped off and left the scene. They were at a stop in their purple Scion.
There was a police response and medic unit. If you Know anyone that was caught in traffic around there at that time please ask them if they saw anything, or the truck, there have been no leads yet.
If anyone has any information about the driver or truck, or saw anything please, please please reply to this post. Her big sister and family are really really scared. kitapunk at hotmail dot com

HunterGParticipantBump.
Thank you Mike.
So nice to see people on the forum so concerned with cell phone coverage, extra bubble wrap and odd WS sightings, not the fact someone’s baby might die.
Keep it up folks. Excuse me for my rudeness.

SueParticipantI don’t know anyone in that area at the time, but I’m sorry that this happened – keeping you and your family in my thoughts and hope both she and the baby will be okay.

QueMemberSo sorry to hear this happened to your sister. I hope for the best for her and her baby after such an awful experience. I hope that you find the driver.

sacatoshParticipantI’m so sorry. I WAS in the area at/near that time, but saw absolutely nothing other than the usual aggressive assclown drivers. I must have passed through before the accident.
Again, I’m really sorry to hear this and hope everyone will be ok.

funkietooParticipantHi Hunter G,
First…sending lots and lots of positive thougths to your sister, her baby, her husband, her family.
In regards to keeping a look out for a Blue Dodge Dakota truck….is there anyway to provide a photo of what this type of truck looks like and also, if there is damage on the truck, where that might be, e.g., front end on the left side. Know that is a lot to ask…it’s just that I am a very visual person and would keep this in the front seat of my car…in fact, I would tape it to my dashboard.
PS…you are not being rude. When possible life threatening/changing emergencies happen, our perspective on what is truly important in life changes….as it should

elikapekaParticipantHunter, I’m so sorry to see this. I wasn’t in the area, but I will certainly keep a lookout for any truck that might fit the description. Do you have any more details, newer or older truck, canopy or open bed, light blue, dark blue, is there damage and where on the truck would it be, that sort of thing. I know from experience that sometimes those details don’t get noticed in the commotion, but anything would help narrow it down – hopefully the police will notify repair shops to be on the lookout for the vehicle as well.
I really hope everything turns out okay.

HunterGParticipantI too am still working on getting more specific information, sister and brother in law are a little preoccupied so it has been kind of tough.
In the mean time, if you see a blue truck with damage and purple paint on the front fender area take a photo and email it to me.
I will post any new details as I hear about them, and thanks so much.

HunterGParticipantGot an update – sister and baby are stabilizing, still looking for any details on the truck if you have them.
Thank you.

HunterGParticipantThanks Mike!
Will post updates. and if anyone has any info mt family would greatly appreciate it. Not just for us, but to keep this from happening again.

CaitParticipantI’ll be keeping an eye out for sure. I cover a lot of West Seattle ground on my modest “commute”, so I’m hoping that might help. So sorry to hear about this, Hunter. Hopefully somebody knows something…
October 7, 2011 at 3:42 pm #736362
funkietooParticipantHunter G….so happy to hear mom and baby are stabilizing! Thank you for the update.

lindaParticipantPosting your original request in our office and also letting the building tenants know, we’re located near the intersecion of Delridge and Andover (the street with the big hill). Someone getting off work at that time may have seen something.
October 8, 2011 at 3:05 am #736364
sam-cParticipantunfortunately, I didn’t see anything, but bumping this, hoping to hear that mom, baby and your family are doing ok. hopefully the request for information will reach someone who saw something useful.
October 8, 2011 at 3:48 am #736365
HunterGParticipantYou all are so wonderful. Thank you so much.
We are all so lucky, the airbag didn’t go off, which would probably have crushed the baby and my sister got to return home today after 4 days of observation – with stipulations, of course.
The had full coverage on their vehicle (which is absolutely totaled), so it should pay for the hospital bills.
BUT, BUT, BUT – I for one want to find this person to protect the rest of West Seattle. And to tell them they almost killed my unborn nephew. They did it once and so far have gotten away with it – they will probably do it again. Also, because the jerk had the nerve to yell out to my brother in law to “pull over to the right”, once he got in the car….VROOOOOM, sped off.
October 8, 2011 at 3:51 am #736366
HunterGParticipantIt was a dark blue Dodge Dakota.
October 8, 2011 at 6:34 pm #736367
redblackParticipantanything else distinguishing about the truck that they can recall? crew cab or single? low rider? jacked up? and what direction did the truck go after the collision? might give a clue about the driver’s destination…
October 9, 2011 at 1:44 am #736368
ghar72ParticipantHunter, So glad to hear your sister and baby are doing okay. Linda’s post about letting tenants in her building know about this made me wonder if anyone has checked with the businesses in that strip mall there…the mini-mart, Subway, Uptown, etc. Maybe you could make up a flyer and have them post it? A stock photo of the make/model could help. Maybe you’ve already done this, but just thought I’d throw it out there. Sorry I wasn’t in the area and didn’t see anything. But keeping my eyes open. Please keep us posted.
October 9, 2011 at 4:17 pm #736369
HunterGParticipantGood idea! Thank you!
October 9, 2011 at 4:23 pm #736370
JoBParticipantHunter G…
sometimes it isn’t indifference that keeps us from posting.
I didn’t open this topic until the number of posts piqued my curiosity because i knew i hadn’t been anywhere near an accident
since i have mostly been home in bed this last couple of weeks.
I am glad your sister and the baby are ok.
I am so sorry she has lost her independence because of this accident.
and i agree with you…
insurance coverage does not make us whole when it comes to things like this.
hit and run is despicable.
whether this happens to your family member or not..
the idea that if you can get away with it, it’s ok
hurts us all.
i hope someone, somewhere notices something that uncovers the identity of this hit and run driver.

Street JesusMember:Bump:
I work for a tow company that services west seattle regularly and will ask my fellow drivers to be on the lookout.
October 12, 2011 at 6:53 am #736372
HunterGParticipantThank you!
