I read on a few different websites that Nucor steel on Andover Street does free tours. Anyone ever do one? Was there a group minimum? Every time I drive past they seem to be doing something cool, would love to know more.

    Never heard of that.

But, I agree, it would be interesting!

Glad to hear it’s not a 3 hour tour.

No telling how that might end up! ;-)

Mike, Especially if The Professor, Mary Ann, Ginger, the Howell’s, the Skipper and Gillian were on board. Don’t forget Teddy.

Never thought of it. That does sound interesting. I wonder if children would be allowed???

My nephew has always wanted to tour the place – I called the office and made arrangements for a tour the next week as a birthday present for him. It was great. It was just the two of us, and the tour guide. We had to wear hard hats, of course. This was a couple years ago. Children under 18 (IIRC) were not allowed. I can’t remember how long the tour took, something like 2 hours, maybe less. It was fascinating and gave me a new perspective about what goes on in there.

I’m gonna call them next week and try to schedule a tour. I’ll let everyone know if they still do them, etc etc. I hope to see a re-enactment of Terminator 2 when the governator melts himself in that steel plant.

They do. Often local community groups organize them – North Delridge Neighborhood Council, Delridge District Council have mentioned them from time to time.

If you are wondering what it’s like inside, here’s a video I came across on Youtube

I’ve gone on one, about a year ago. I live a half mile from nucor so I thought I’d see what it was about and went with a group of friends and neighbors. It was very informative and interesting. I suggest anybody who can visit them do so.
