Just rumor mongering on my part. Albertsons is taking over Safeway (which seems really odd to me) but because of that, they have had to divest locations. Of the locations, Haggen has offered to buy 146 Albertsons/Safeway locations mainly along the west coast. I would so love to have a Haggen here rather than two Safeways. I’ve always liked the brand, and the food/deli that they offer. So I am hoping we get re-branded Safeway somewhere in West Seattle.
cool.. i already drive to Burien .. i actually like the Trader Joes there better so unless i am stopping on my way home from the city that’s already where i shop
and…the way I understood it is…it’s not Albertson’s taking over Safeway per se, it’s the umbrella company that owns Albertson’s that has taken over Safeway. I believe that transition happened this past fall.. I have noticed subtle changes at the Admiral Safeway.
