qsch0527ParticipantThanks! Do you know if they have a waiting list?

pattileaParticipantWhen looking for child care always check the Department of early learning to see if there are any Valid complaints listed del.wa.gov then click on child check type in their home phone number Cell phone number do not work. Then you can see the history of the child care home or center. In this case there is a valid complaint on file.
I always tell parents to go with your gut feeling. My oldest son that is now 29 years old was abused in a home childcare and became a non speaker. You need to do your homework when looking for childcare.

JustSarahParticipantDEL is actually at del.wa.gov, not del.com. :)

ssairdParticipantI am not sure if she is full at this time. I would give her a call.

DMHParticipantWe have been sending our daughter to Growing Years daycare at the Federal Center South building on East Marginal Way. They are part of Easter Seals Washington. She has been there for about 3.5 months. We love the teachers in the infant room. The rest of the staff is really nice too.
We had originally started her at an in-home daycare that was very close to our home, but after a few months I just wasnt satisfied with the quality of care and professionalism there so we chose to move her to more structured daycare setting. I really like that she is with other babies most of the day but still gets to mingle with the older kids occasionally. I think it worth getting a tour and talking with them even if you don’t want to go that way, just so you have a point of comparison. I toured a few places when we were looking, I was very impressed with Bright Horizons West Seattle but we just could not afford them.

JustSarahParticipantWe loved our experience at Bright Horizons West Seattle. We left because our son secured a spot at Bright Horizons’ center at Starbucks HQ, which is less expensive than West Seattle because of an effective Starbucks employee discount. Otherwise, West Seattle is less expensive, and it is a wonderful center. :) They have a somewhat Montessori approach, including no baby “containment devices” (besides cribs for napping), no electronic toys, no TV (obviously), hands-on activities and experiments (even for infants), some foreign and sign language education, and plenty of imaginative play.

qsch0527ParticipantI had definitely started at a great place here :) Thank you all for the valuable information. I will check out the places you guys recommended.
SarahScoot, what is the tuition in Bright Horizons here in West Seattle? We drove by several times, and it does look great.

JustSarahParticipantInfant care while we were there (Jan.-Mar. this year) was $1987. I know this is too much for many families (I’m not out of touch–this is more than our mortgage payment). We actually got on the list for the Sbux center in April of 2012 (baby was born Oct. 2012), but didn’t get a spot until March 2013. So we enrolled at West Seattle knowing a spot would come up at Sbux within about six months. To put it in perspective, from my own personal research, average center tuition in Seattle for infants seemed to be around $1700/month. We really wanted a center, for several reasons.

yamamamaMember@ patilela: I am so sorry about the daycare incident(s) of abuse with your son. To confirm, you aren’t referring to any of the daycare’s listed in this thread, correct?
@qsch0527: I also have had a great experience with Loving Hands Childcare. My son was there from age 1 – 3 and I only discontinued there because I had another child and decided to stay home. Shelly is truly wonderful with the children.

pattileaParticipantYamamama, no, not any listed this time, but she does post on here sometimes. And I always call her out! Other parents are always your best resource.
