kamranistanMemberDoes anyone know of any Arabic markets or restaurants in the area? I know there are a few Greek joints but its too different from what I’m looking for.
Thanks

KenParticipantThose who eat out more can tell you about restaurants. If you want to
cook your own, go to
World Spice in the Pike Place market

charlabobParticipantNot strictly Arabic, but there are some spectacular Ethiopian restaurants in Seattle: Queen Sheba (916 John Street) is amazing and I’ve heard others are equally good. There’s something weird about their web address (it takes you to a list of odds and ends) but I definitely recommend them, and I learned about them from a dear friend who’s a real foodie, so I’m pretty sure they’re good. :-)

AlcinaParticipantAlthough it isn’t in West Seattle, you might want to try the Sahara Market in Burien. It is on SW 152nd St., one block east of Ambaum Blvd. SW.

SueParticipantDon’t know if this is helpful, but I really like this Afghan restaurant in Wallingford: http://www.kabulrestaurant.com
I haven’t been here, but found this review of another place in Renton for Omar Al-Khyam Restaurant: http://www.thestranger.com/seattle/omar-al-khyam-restaurant/Content?oid=18525

guidosmomMemberNot West Seattle and not strictly Arabic, but I used to go to Byblos a lot for Middle eastern spices and products. I used to go to the location near Shoreline on 99. I am not sure if that still exists. They have a Bellevue location with a website:
They carry some good hard to find items, such as my favorite, Vimpto (a yummy purple fruity soft drink).
Good luck!

KimberleyParticipantVimpto is a British soft drink – you can usually get it pretty regularly at the British shop in Redmond, they also carry the cordial version (i.e. concentrate, so you put a little in a glass and then add water for a refreshing beverage).
British Pantry: http://www.thebritishpantryltd.com/index.php
As for Arabic restaurants, I haven’t been able to find one (or Lebanese for that matter) since moving here, though there are several good restaurants already mentioned.

guidosmomMemberThanks Kimberley. I always wondered why Byblos carried it since it is British, but I never complained. I got addicted to it while living in the UK. Thanks for the link to the British Shop! Yum.

WSBKeymasterI don’t have specifics but just south of West Seattle, in White Center, there are so many small places on 16th, 15th SW stretching several blocks south of Roxbury, including the side streets – if you haven’t explored yet, you might want to go wander around and see if anything catches your eye. The focus is more Asian and Hispanic cultures but I wouldn’t be surprised if you happened onto something Middle Eastern.

cMemberfound this on another site. The talk about desoines but I know for a fact there are a few in White Center. They may not have websites but I’ve driven by them they say halal in front or on the side.
