I just discovered that one of the springs on our garage door has broken and has rendered the unit unusable.

So I’m turning to my WSBlog-peeps for your recommendations as to who to call to repair it.

    Thanks, and enjoy…

I’ve used Anderson Garage for door replacement at one house and repair at another. I give them two thumbs up.

Distribudoors. I can’t say enough good things about them. From an earlier post:

Can confirm distribudoors is great! We had the tension spring replaced in our door when we moved in three years ago. It was $250, I think. They were very nice and mentioned that our motor was too small for the size door we had, and that it would eventually wear out. After it did wear out exactly on the timeline they gave us, they replaced it and upgraded our entry/lock panel. Very good price, great service.

A friend had the same problem and he picked up a spring at Home Depot and was able to replace the broken one in just a few minutes. Just a thought: $30 for the spring, plus a bit of your time, or a couple hundred for someone else’s time. And there are dozens of how-to videos on replacing the springs on YouTube.
