I think it would be great if we could get a community Friday and Saturday night/evening bicycle ride going. It’s healthy, inexpensive, and you get to meet new friends and enjoy the beautiful view. A easy ride, from Alki Point Lighthouse to Seacrest park etc. Also maybe end with a beer or coffee or two at the finish. Any ideas?

I’d like to have a local mentor on VERY safe rides for a newbie to biking with toddler on back (da*n, no beer). I was told the Alki ride would be nice on weekdays with fewer peds and bikes to navigate.

Any experienced biking moms with tots out there?

    I like both ideas.

Iruk–in what do you have to tote the toddler? I love the trailer/so steady.

I’m having a bike put together this week. I’ve opted for toddler seat on the back.

I can’t imagine Screemie staying put in a trailer in the wayback, even strapped down. I could epoxy him in, but he’d find a way to wiggle out of his slacks!

I’ll keep in touch with you to see if you can/want to go on a novice ride sometime soon. Thanks!

glocson, sounds like a great idea. I would love it. I stopped riding down Alki quite awhile ago because I didn’t like all the people on the bike path, which you mentioned in an earlier post. If we can mostly guarantee that the non-wheeled stay off the bike path, my guy and I are down for a ride followed by a beer at the Alki tavern. can you imagine their surprise when a group of different bikers show up en masse?

By the way, if you’re looking for a great bike path with almost no walkers, there is a great trail out by Tukwila that goes all the way to Auburn. Nice and flat, all along the Green river.
