datamuseParticipantI’m pretty sure I’ve seen them at Ikea. Or you could try some of the housewares stores in the ID.

SueParticipantI bought mine at Overstock.com, but I also saw some at Uwajimaya a year or two ago. The folding screens were not what I’d call “cheap” though ($100-$200 or more, depending on what you buy). I do see 2 of them listed on the Ikea site though, as previously suggested, both much cheaper than I’d seen.
20 years ago when my sister rented out a one room basement apartment, my dad devised a room divider using metal utility shelf units from the hardware store and plywood. He put one shelf unit in front of the other and a larger piece of plywood in between them that went from floor to ceiling. The shelf units (which were then used as bookcases with a “bookcase” in each “room”) held the plywood up, and it extended to make the wall. He left room at the end for a doorway. Not the most attractive setup, but it worked.

FranciParticipantA few years ago I went to the 2nd use building materials and bought some shutters of various sizes and made a room divider by joining them together with hinges. It turned pretty cool.

pshihoParticipantI just removed a very expensive accordion sound proof room divider from our business. It measures about 10′ x8′. It was custom built for our application but did not work out for our needs. I have no use for it now and would sell it very cheap. It cost me $3000 plus. It would need to be attached to a sturdy ceiling which then folds against your wall.

hopeyParticipantpshiho, how would I contact you to inquire about your soundproof divider?
