I am looking for a reliable and inexpensive dry cleaner in West Seattle that would do a queen size down comforter, and also a down coat. I’ve been putting it off for a long time because I have no idea where to go! I’d appreciate any help in this search!
Did you know that you can actually wash your down comforter in the washing machine? I’ve done it with mine many times and it works just fine. Just remember that you have to dry it on the lowest temp your dryer has and it takes a while to dry.
I thought that was only recommended if you have a front loader washing machine. We’ve washed ours in the past, but like GoGo mentioned, it takes a really long time to dry.
You also want to make sure you check very carefully for holes in the lining!
One plus of taking it to the dry cleaner (I took my feather pillows to Southwest Cleaners on 35th) is they can send it out to add feathers to make it fluffy again. ‘Course by then the cost might be enough that it’s just cheaper to buy a new comforter…
My family has gone to Wardrobe cleaners for years. I haven’t taken a down comforter to them but they do everything in house. Check with them to see if they can do it and how much it would cost. They are on Fauntleroy and Oregon.
