missmandyMemberHey all. I’ve never hired a house cleaner before but with a new baby on the way I am looking to have someone come out for some “deep cleaning”, then, after baby arives, on a more regular basis… I don’t know exactly what to expect. What is the going rate and what is usally included? Our house is aprox 1800sf and reasonably clean, just looking for the “hard to reach places”, floors, dusting, etc. Also, would you expect your house cleaner to bring all of their own equipment? Hope this doesn’t sound too silly, never thought I’d be one to hire a house cleaner but it’s that time! Also, do either one of the recomendations above have a website that you know of?? Thanks!!

JanSParticipanthi, missmandy. I don’t think that Pamela has a website. But she answers inquiries quickly. I can’t help you with her rates, since I barter with here for the service. And, yes, she brings all her own stuff.:) And she also rescues feral cats, has them neutered, etc., and then they get to go back, and enjoy retired lives. Give her a call..:)

Cali101MemberUnfortunately Louise Binion doesn’t have a website, but her number is 293-3574. She is a sweet French woman, who has a few long term ladies that help her. She does a great job and is very nice to work with. I was shocked with how expensive housecleaning is, but her rate seems to be the going rate. For our townhome (1100 sq ft) it is $110 for a monthly cleaning, but I think the price goes down with more frequency. We do have to provide supplies and leave them out when she comes, but that is kinda nice because we know it is all our own clothes, and everything, and I can use the supplies in between her cleanings. Our experience with her has been very reliable and consistent. Hope this helps.

charlabobParticipantOops — I missed this opportunity to recommend Pam (again). She and her tewam have cleaned for us for the past 4 years and she’s absolutely great. Flexible — thorough — kind (to my 96 year old MIL who likes to tell people how to do things.) We’ve had a number of cleaners over the years and she is absolutely the best!
(We also have one of her rescue cats and he’s great too — though he’s getting used to us again after a brief sojourn outdoors.)

LenaParticipantPam is excellent! She brings her own supplies and is great about working around our animals. The rate largely depends on the size of your home and how long it takes. Because they are super fast (and good at the same time) I wouldn’t go on hourly rate alone when deciding.

SueParticipantmissmandy, I’ve only hired cleaning people a few times when I move out of an apartment. I’m sure every company/cleaner is different, but in my experience they would charge by the hour and how many people came and then they’d estimate how long it would take based on what you wanted them to do and what the charge was. For instance, for a move-out cleaning I needed the inside of the fridge and oven cleaned, so that was going to take far longer than a quick clean of a bathroom. One place charged a lot more than others per hour, but they sent 4 women to do the cleaning, so the entire place took only an hour, where one person would’ve taken considerably longer. In all cases the people (in my experience) brought their own stuff, but that can vary too. Definitely get all the details when taking bids so you’re not comparing apples to oranges. (The cleaners I had were not in the Seattle area, so I can’t personally recommend anyone, nor tell you about the going price around here.)

mblogsdonMemberOnce I get back on my feet, I’d be happy to help you. I broke my ankle in four places so I’m out of commission right now. I am referral based and have several clients in West Seattle that you may contact. MB 206.226.3117
