Hi All, I have a date this week, I get to pick the restaurant and I am not paying. :-) Where should we go? Oh, and having/serving wine would be preferable.

Are you wanting to stick around in West Seattle? Jak’s in the junction is good and service is consistent. It is more quiet than most junction options.

On the beach there is the Phoenicia, which should be a nice date spot.

Romantic? La Rustica, Phoenicia, Fresh Bistro would be on the list. Ma’Ono is also worthy.

Seconding La Rustica and Fresh Bistro, also adding Mashiko if you’re sushi fans, have had a few birthday/anniversary/date nights there, always perfectly cozy with amazing food.

Ephesus is my personal favorite. I like Jak’s as well.

The rest of these suggestions are giving me ideas for date nights. ;)

The Pink Door on Post Alley in the Pike Place Market is totally cool, with a romantic environment, and fabulous food. They have patio dining overlooking the market and the sound. If you can’t get a rez there, try the Steelhead Diner–also in the market with great food at reasonable prices. Plus there’s also Cutter’s, Etta’s and Tom’s new (been there a while now) restaurant. I love playing tourist on my nights out so hit the market area and have fun–we’re only 15 minutes away–take the water taxi and hang your camera around your neck and tell people you’re from the mid-west! Just have fun!

Our first date– and still one of our ongoing favorites for a fun evening out–was at a restaurant that serves tapas (typically Spanish-style small plates that can be shared by two or more people). What’s great about this is that you can explore different flavors together, accompanied by some nice wine, and pace your meal to be as leisurely or efficient as possible. Phoenicia has a moderate assortment of tapas if you want to stay local. Harvest Vine in Madison Park has excellent tapas and one of the most romantic rooms in Seattle, and would feel a bit more intimate than Phoenicia.

Huge fan of the Tuscan Tea Room. Live music, great food, romantic ambience.

Since you do not have to pay… you may want to go to the Metropolitan Grill downtown :-) my very favorite place – but very pricey.

I also second Jak’s if you want to stay in West Seattle. Another favorite is Cactus on Alki – that might not be as romantic though.

    Have fun :)

Hey all, thanks for the suggestions! I now have a longer list of places I need to go.

We ended up going to Fresh Bistro and it was amazing. I had never been there before but will definitely be back.
