Garden_nymphMemberWhere is the picture of the parking lot bacon exchange? By the way, I have tried the bacon caramels and YUM! Your excellent reporting of The Swinery has brought many customers I am sure. Happy New Year.

christopherboffoliParticipantGarden_nymph: Thanks. The bacon exchange was in December of 2008. So it didn’t make the cut for 2009 images.
I’m beginning to realize how my food reporting can be a double-edged sword as the WSB has a huge amount of readers who tend to respond to what they see on the site (as I expect those business owners who adroitly advertise with the WSB have discovered).
When I went in to the Swinery yesterday, looking to buy a few more of those candy bars, I was told that the demand for them more than outstripped their ability to make them and that because they are so labor-intensive to produce they probably will not be making any more.
Doh!

Garden_nymphMemberI forgot that the much discussed parking lot bacon exchange was in December of 2008. I don’t remember, what there snow too? I think you should create a Boffoli food blog. Justin Cline does a great job highlighting the good eateries in White Center and you have brought your own “Oprah effect” to those you have spoken highly of. Keep it up- although my arteries may not thank you, my cardiologist sure will! I enjoy what you share here on the blog, visually, gastronomically and poetically. Oh I do so love the WSB!!!

Garden_nymphMemberI’m sure if you talk to them nicely, they could whip you up your own batch. You are, after all, their unofficial spokesperson.

christopherboffoliParticipantGn: Nope. I think the bacon deliveries beat the snow by at least a couple of weeks. Not that even the worst winter storm would have kept this native New Englander from getting the bacon delivered on time!
Thanks for your kind words. There are a LOT of food blogs out there and many good ones. I’m not sure the world needs another. But food topics seem to generate a lot of interest among WSB readers. So as long as the editors are generously willing to provide me with a forum for the discussion/celebration of food in West Seattle I’ll keep writing/photographing/filming!
I’m not sure I’d necessarily characterize myself as the Swinery’s spokesperson. Love him or hate him, Gabriel Claycamp does a remarkable job on his own of attracting media attention, usually by doing something interesting. I’d like to think of myself as an equal-opportunity enthusiast when it comes to great local food.
Though I only learned yesterday about the discontinuation of what I like to call the Swinery’s “bacon Twix” bar, I’ve already formulated a plan. It just so happens that my best friend is a pastry chef. So I’ve already been conspiring with her to create our own homemade version (with the Swinery’s house-made bacon, of course).
