WSBKeymasterI know, Al, bummer. But there are some GREAT indoors events in WS this year, many more than last year … Admiral singalong, ArtsWest concert, Kenyon Hall, anyway, check the HOLIDAYS tab above.
Meantime, Peter from Port of Seattle media just called back. Jack Block Park closes at 9 pm. So don’t go there. @hopey, we’ll remember to check for 4th of July when it gets closer :) (only half a year now! yikes!)

WSBKeymasterI appreciate the effort that goes into the broadcast, having produced some 4th of July fireworks shows during my last TV gig, but there’s one thing they do that makes my teeth grind … match it to some ridiculous soundtrack. The natural sound of the fireworks themselves, provided you have a live mike close enough, plus crowd oohs-and-aahs (ditto), is nothing to be afraid of.
So last year when we actually went downtown for the first time in 17 Seattle New Year’s Eves, it was a joy to just see the fireworks for what they were. No, turning the sound down on the TV and yelling BOOM! BOOM! every few minutes is not the same thing.
