The daylong event celebrates edible and sustainable gardening, and showcases important concepts and practical applications through on-site demonstrations, exhibits and guest speakers. Fun and informative workshops for adults and kids take place throughout the day, along with tours of the college’s Arboretum. The new Waterwise Perennial Garden will be dedicated, and additions to the Upper Rose Garden and Gazebo on display.
Members of the college’s Landscape Horticultural program, Master Gardener’s Association, Puget Sound Dahlia Association, Seattle Tilth, and SeaChar will be on hand to answer all your gardening questions. They will also conduct demonstrations on edible container gardening, growing vegetables, composting, hale bale gardens, and kid crafts.
The impressive lineup of guest speakers is highlighted by a presentation by Ed Hume, who will also be signing copies of his newest book, Gardening with Ed Hume, Northwest Gardening Made Easy.
Event admission is free, with the exception of the Ed Hume presentation. Picnic food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the day.
Don’t miss this great opportunity to get to know South Seattle Community College’s Arboretum – a West Seattle treasure!
