If you remember, they used to proudly make notice of their manager & that person would be visible & approachable. The customer service desk was prominent for your concerns. Now, there’s “that wall” that leads you to the bathroom. It was also there that a plaque was proudly displayed by the Architect & General Contractor that did the initial remodel. I’m looking for a dart board now.

I’m glad some people complained directly to the store, in addition to venting here. It would be enlightening to print out these comments and present them to the store manager!

I agree with keep non-service dogs out of grocery stores; gross gross gross; was glad to see Trader Joe’s now has sign on front door about this; and after reading all these comments, realizing where the hell is the bread now? I’ve been in MM many times since remodel and cannot now recall seeing any bread; also totally agree with very surprising taking out the wonderful coffee bar upstairs (I had to hunt and hunt to find where it is now) and not replaced with anything; very weird

Oh my god, dog butt in the food! That’s why we never take Puddles to the dog park. We run him off leash at the playground where there aren’t so many dogs around!

Buttercup – hate to disappoint you, but Safeway is worse for dogs than metro – by a long shot.

Will echo the sentiments that this was just bad all around. Did not think anything was wrong and the concept of a self-serve bread cutter…well…that just deserves what it will get.

KBear…I have always appreciated your input on the forums, BUT…off leash dogs on a playground, where children are going to play in the urine soaked grass, or wood chips, or whatever…is illegal.

Hey ya’ll, I recently moved into a condo in Magnolia, and the MetMarket Store here finally finished their remodel. This store is only 2/3 (if that) the size of the one on Admiral (used to live in West Seattle). They have a salad bar and warm food area, and behind the deli you can get the prime rib dinner, sandwich, the smoked pork butt sandwich, etc… The remodel is fantastic. The only thing they are working on now are a few issues in the north parking lot, but I love the store and it is super convenient to walk or drive there. It is pretty close to Discovery Park. They also send out freebies as they open, such as chocolates, treats, etc… Give it time. Good things come to those who wait… it will get better. :)

The Store Directors and Upper Management at the RSC treat the Team Members at the store level badly. They work very hard as a whole and get no support just constant criticism and constantly talked down to. The remodel has obviously gone very badly and the staff who had nothing to do with these decisions get chewed out on a daily basis by the customers as to how the remodel is terrible and about the leaky roof. Morale is very low in the store. The store directors do not care. It has been brought to their attention many times. All they care about is themselves and how they look in the eyes of their superiors. So many people are unhappy. It is a thankless job and no matter what you do it is never good enough. Labor is constantly being cut, most likely to pay for the remodels and opening of Sammamish. Team Members are over worked and under paid.

Honest, this is indeed disturbing information. What is your source? Do you work there or know someone who does?

I believe everyone should be treated with respect at work.

And I also believe this is a union store which means Honest and her/his coworkers have it better than a lot of working people. A living wage with regularly scheduled raises, 1 1/2 times pay for OT,double time for holidays, full medical, dental and vision benefits, vacation pay, the opportunity to be vested and draw a pension. So the bosses aren’t supportive, just go to work – do your job – find your joy elsewhere.

the employees are what once made that store an enjoyable place to shop..
this consumer will still pay a premium for service.. when the employees no longer feel valued.. service goes down.

Honest – A good friend of mine works at Met Market and I have heard nothing but praise for management and how employees are treated. What is your source for this information?

AA@ sometimes just finding joy elsewhere is not enough, you are at your job for 8 plus hours 5 days a week and if you are not happy there it takes a wear on you and try and tell me that you don’t take it home with you.

I feel like it is exactly the same grocery store, except w/ more express check out. Took a couple visits to get used to the new layout, but still my favorite grocery store in West Seattle by a mile.

and they aren’t done…still months of work, so some of that mis-arrangement may be temporary….see story on today’s WSB front page…
