The next election for Mayor of Seattle happens in 2009. We often talk about how much we DON’T agree with Greg Nickels, about everything from taxes to grocery bags to street closings. It comes up as an “oh by the way” in almost every thread about a local issue. As far as I can recall, no one has jumped up to defend him. but we do seem to reelect him.

My question is, OK, who else? What do we want the mayor to do and who can we get to do it? I haven’t heard any buzz and the next election is little more than a year away.

    Who’s on your short list?

I have no idea if he’s interested, but I really like almost everything I know about Tom Rasmussen and that’s rare for me. :-)

Although I don’t know what he’s doing these days, Mark Sidran would probably get more votes this time around.

I have a friend who is on one of the advisory councils and he doesn’t think that Nickels will get much competition. I thought maybe Steinbruck, but he doesn’t think so. I would think whomever it is, we, as West Seattleites would be very interested in their plan for a viaduct replacement.
