I started feeling much better on Thursday after being sick for almost three weeks. To celebrate, I am going to the Tap Station where they are having an Autumn Beer Tasting. Yum, yum! After waking up the taste buds, I think maybe a big slice of pizza and a slice of warm Marionberry pie with heavy cream will be in order.

Love this time of year. The air is crisp in the morning and the days warm. This is when the beers, wine and ciders really shine. Soups and stew recipes reappear along with deserts made in cast iron skillets. It doesn’t get any better.

    Good-bye nasty cold! Hello Hops!

I agree with most of this…..
” God forbid I say that I like smaller government. Or, feel like every person of working age (that is mentally and physically capable) should try their hardest to better themselves and get a job and not rely on others for assistance. Or, want to keep more of my hard earned money versus give it to the government to make decisions on how to spend (and many times unwisely spend.) Or, not be 100% ok with legalized weed. Or, actually like cops/law enforcement. Or, want to manage my own health care. Or, think that we need to secure our borders, not only from potential threats that can and do come in, but also from a mass influx of people in general so that our citizens have the most opportunity for success.”

i am as ok with legalized weed as i am with legalized alcohol and legalized tobacco.. which is to say i am decidedly uncomfortable… but my bottom line has far more to do with abuse than with use.. which likely puts us on the same page.

So you might wonder why i am not a Republican.

Part of the answer lies in my faith.. yup.. in my faith.. but the other part lies in the fact that although i hear a lot of rhetoric from the Republicans.. i don’t see any real action on most of the really big items on that list.

i agree that those who are able should work.. but.. also believe that those who work should make enough to live on.. which is a real stickler in Republican land.
I also think we ought to have viable programs for those who can’t work… and trust me our social security safety net leaves those who are finally approved in the same position as those who work but don’t make enough to live on.

I am in favor of law enforcement.. and i like cops.. my brother was one… but although i am tickled when an officer shows up when i need one… i don’t like individual police officers who abuse their authority with impunity.

And i sure as heck would like smaller government… or at least a more efficient use of government funds. (Wasn’t it Al Gore who did the bang up job of cutting/consolidating government agencies) But i have a real problem with subsidizing huge corporations that move jobs overseas.. and i have an equally hard time subsidizing the taxes of our nation’s stock market players… and.. to be honest i think our military budget is obscene given that we don’t adequately spend to support those who have served.

and i would be over the moon tickled to manage my own health care.. i am managed by my health care provider (insurance company) who decides what care i should and shouldn’t receive based on some actuarial tables compiled by people who do not actually practice health care. We pay big money for the privilege of regularly fighting for exceptions to their rules because for some reason my body is not ready to give up the fight but refuses to behave according to their schedules :(

isn’t it amazing how much we have in common but how differently we view our circumstances.

Remarks of President Barack Obama as Delivered
    Weekly Address
The White House August 13, 2016

Hi, everybody. One of the most urgent challenges of our time is climate change. We know that 2015 surpassed 2014 as the warmest year on record – and 2016 is on pace to be even hotter.

At this point readers will notice that evidently the president is basing his statement on the surface temperature record, the most highly ” adjusted ” record set of the 4 or 5 global sets commonly referred to, by the liberal media and politicians. He does not mention the error margin in his claim, nor does he mentioned by HOW MUCH these claims are increasing over previous values.

Last year, that leadership helped us bring nearly 200 nations together in Paris around the most ambitious agreement in history to save the one planet we’ve got. That’s not something to tear up – it’s something to build upon.

    IT’S ALWAYS FOR OUR CHILDREN

    Meanwhile, over at his State Department;

There are many countries – the most vocal outside of us probably India – but the reality is there would be many developing countries who would balk at having to do legally binding targets for themselves. They might be perfectly happy to ask for legally binding targets from developed countries, but we were not going to go back into a Kyoto structure of binding target commitments for developed countries but not for developing. We’re past that. That’s the backwards-looking world. It didn’t work. That’s not where we were going. So the notion of the targets not being binding was really a fundamental part of our approach from early on, and obviously something quite useful for us as well …..

In terms of congressional approval, this agreement does not require submission to the Senate because of the way it is structured. The targets are not binding; the elements that are binding are consistent with already approved previous agreements. So it would not be – I mean, I don’t want to speak in a definitive way, but it’s certainly not – I would just say that it’s not required. What actions are taken or not taken is a separate question, but it’s not required ….

…. there was no way you were going to be able to negotiate targets and timetables, as was done in Kyoto; and you were going to need to have a totally different kind of structure, a bottom-up structure which allowed countries to come in understanding that and feeling comfortable with the fact that they weren’t going to have to compromise their fundamental imperatives of development and growth and poverty eradication and so forth.

So we left the cape. We were desperate for new Ice charts. We got them, they showed us we could sail up past Chelyuskin in open sea !! but then the Laptev sea was still blocked for us. BUT we were on a roll, we tried to get as far as we could, but the ice was so thick , you could have skied faster. So, we had to retrace our route. We are now anchored by the shore against some fast ice.

The Polar Ocean Challenge is taking a two month journey that will see them go from Bristol, Alaska, to Norway, then to Russia through the North East passage, back to Alaska through the North West passage, to Greenland and then ultimately back to Bristol. Their objective, as laid out by their website, was to demonstrate “ that the Arctic sea ice coverage shrinks back so far now in the summer months that sea that was permanently locked up now can allow passage through.

I walk regularly through Lincoln Park from home near High Point, but I guess I’ve been out of town a lot lately. I just had my first encounter with the Pokemon Go obsession and its apparent takeover of public outdoor spaces. Of the hundred-plus people we encountered as we just walked the waterfront from the north end to the pool (where we turned around and exited in frustration) maybe 5 or 6 were not holding devices and roving in search of whatever you search for in that game. I play pick-up ultimate on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, and I found myself wondering what the public and park’s response would be if we moved our game into the middle of a public park otherwise busy with people trying to enjoy… the park. While I feel sure we’d get many complaints and probably be told to take our game back to its regular playing field, I think we’d be less injurious to the atmosphere of the park, given that there are usually only about seven players to a side.

Apart from the creepiness of being in a beautiful park surrounded by people looking down at screens, I wonder about damage to the park. At one point we saw two men dash off the path into the woods and start scrambling up the hill through the underbrush, phones in hand. Does this explain the new but now well-worn trail we had recently passed, a little ways north of the pool, running from the graveled waterfront path straight up (no switchbacks) as far as we could see. This looks like it will be an erosion nightmare when the rainy season starts, and a significant park maintenance and management issue for the near future.

I am wondering if others have experienced negative effects of commercial gaming companies co-opting public parks as gameboards, i.e. Pokemon Go. If we are going to toss the sanctity of park space so easily, I’d rather see it used for plying non-profit interests, pushing campaign flyers on passersby, courting initiative signatures, that sort of thing. Yuck, right?

Oh how poetic.. The Democratic party Nominates a true Criminal for the Presidency. It is just another classic example of Left-ism / Progressive-ism where the ONLY thing that is important is the advancement of the Ideology over such trivial things like Honesty & Integrity, Trustworthiness, Good Judgment, Self Respect, Women’s & Victim’s Rights etc… On and On.
I am not sure which of her Crimes are the Most Disgusting..? Really ? Please help me…
Is it the “Non-Profit” Clinton Foundation where they pose as a “Charity ” and ” take ” donations for those that need it the MOST but pocket ( .90 Cents ) out of Every ( $1.00 ). Which sadly is the Oldest trick in the Book. Yes, The “Non-Profit” Clinton Foundation is on the United Nation’s Charity Watchlist for “Sketchy” Charities along with Former FBI Informant Al Sharpton’s Charity. NICE..!
    Or
Could it be the way Hillary Intentionally & systematically Trashed the reputations of the Multitudes of women that her Husband abused during his Presidency ?
Yup.. She is fighting for you !
    Or
Selling Political favors via the Clinton Foundation in the form of Suddenly being offered Double and Triple + the typical and long standing Speaking fees predator Bill would get for a speech in a Country that Just So Happen to be requesting ” Something ” from Sir Hillary.
    Or
Intentionally ( Oop’s I’m Sorry.. Accidentally ? ) Deleting 30,000 Emails from her server after being subpoenaed by the FBI.
    Or
Straight up Lying to the Faces of the Families of those that were lost in Benghazi and then Lying about Lying.
She is truly the most Disgusting person EVER to run for any office outside of Bernie Sander’s Soviet Union.
But, I would expect nothing less from the Modern Democratic Party. A Party that had to be reminded and Pressured to fly the American Flag at there convention after 3 days of nothing but ( 1 ) Palestinian and Soviet Flag being waved vigorously.
Yes, The same party that supports “Black Lives matter” a group that has chanted many times ” We want Dead cops now ” and ” Cops should Fry like bacon ” just to name a few. Yet sit silently by ( Except for Spike Lee ) and watch Far More Innocent Black people ( Thousands of Women & Children ) die in the slaughter of Chicago than the IRAQ war. ” Silence …SHHHHH it doesn’t fit our agenda ”
Thank you Democrats for exposing your sick Ideology but this time …. Oh So Spectacularly !!!!

Melania Knavs, was born in 1970 in Yugoslavia, now know as Slovenia. Knavs studied design and architecture at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia. She then worked as a model for fashion houses in Milan and Paris before relocating to New York City in 1996.

After moving to New York City , Knavs supposedly met Donald Trump at a Fashion Week party in New York City in September 1998. Their relationship gained attention after a 1999 interview on The Howard Stern Show, and additional publicity after the 2004 launch of Trump’s successful business-oriented reality television show, The Apprentice. Donald Trump described their long courtship in 2005: “We literally have never had an argument, forget about the word ‘fight’ . We just are very compatible. We get along.”
After becoming engaged in 2004, Donald Trump and Melania Knavs were married on January 22, 2005, at The Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Palm Beach, Florida, followed by a reception in the 17,000-sq.-ft ballroom at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

Trump has always stated he met his wife Melania at a fashion week party in 1998. But Anna Novak a matchmaker who operated an office in Slovenia for several “Mail Order Bride” companies, including a company called A Foreign Affair, says she received a call sometime around 1995 from the head office to help arrange a call between a female member Melanija, and A VIP client she only knew as Donald. Shortly after the call, Melania asked to be removed as a member and to have her profile completely removed from the websites.

If this was truly “The Donald” and the “Melania” then why the secrecy? Trump was married at the time, even when they met each at the Fashion Week party. It is not a secret that Trump has had a long history of infidelity, When married to his first wife, Czech model Ivana Zelní Ková, he had an affair with actress Marla Maples, In 1992 Ivana’s and Donald’s divorce was finalized, shortly thereafter Donald sued Ivana for $25 million, alleging she was not honoring a gag clause in their divorce agreement by disclosing facts about him. Maples and Donald were married the following year after his first divorce on December 20, 1993. The couple’s divorce finalized in June 1999, nearly one year after the Fashion Week party where supposedly Donald met Melania for the first time.

A spoke’s person for A Foreign Affair’ in Phoenix AZ, says. “We have a strict confidentiality policy so we can not make any comments about any member or client.” They did admit they do help many rich and or famous clients find love overseas.

Our son, and one of his friends that lives in the neighborhood, are old enough to be independent most of the time but still benefit from oversight, someone that can get them to the places they like to go, and a buddy that they can look up to and hang out with. They both enjoy skateboarding, Yu-Gi-Oh, bowling, eating Pho, video games, the occasional movie. Normal teen boy stuff.

If you are 18 years old (so that you are free of the State driving restrictions), responsible, patient, and are looking for a unique summer job experience this may be the one for you. We are thinking of 20-25 hours a week, but that would depend on vacations and your availability. Hourly pay will likely be higher for this job than other summer jobs, but will depend on your fit.

wait for it … wait for it … a federal judge (Gonzalo Curiel) in a [no-]class-action suit has ruled that internal documents from Trump U must be released by June 2 (a separate suit alleging deceptive business practices brought by the NY AG is underway as well.) Trump, citing his comments about the Wall (no, not the Pink Floyd album,) accused the ‘Mexican’ judge of being biased because of his presumed Mexican heritage (let’s see, a square is a wrecked angle, so anyone with a Hispanic sounding name who appears to dislike rump must be Mexican,) Even still, rump said that being presumably Mexican is ‘great’ and ‘fine.’ (The judge was born in Indiana, which in Trumpworld is a ciudad in Mexico.) Trump suggested that the judge recuse himself because he has made so many ‘negative, negative, negative’ rulings that he must be ‘a hater’ of Trump. Due to the code of judicial ethics, the judge cannot respond.

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/internal-trump-university-records-must-be-released-federal-judge-rules/ar-BBtB9Lf#image=1 (warning – put your orange-blocking sunglasses on; when I opened this page, it defaulted to a YUGE picture of rump, which is now burned into my retinas. btw, MSN is a great place for articles from a variety of papers that might otherwise charge for viewing articles.)

and, if you feel the American Dream is more of a nightmare, you shouldn’t read this NYT article … how many palatial homes does vulture capitalist Mittens Romney own while he off-shores his money to avoid paying for his fair share of what makes America grate? (yes, the misspelling is purposeful.)

can’t wait for his taxes to be released … anyone remember that the IRS audited Tricky Dick when he was the sitting president? Over 3 years, his income totaled around $900k but he had only paid $6k in federal taxes. He was required to pay something like $450k in taxes, interest and penalties. Spiro got audited too with similar results. This was how the ‘time-honored tradition’ of candidates releasing their returns got started. (thanks to Rachel Maddow!)

I MAY NOT BE PERFECT “10” BUT I’M A WINNER!

I’ve only been owned by one family. Even though I was “born” in 2003 I have really low mileage (83,000). I’ve had my 65,000 mile check and changed all belts, timing and chain, flushed transmission, tune up, etc. I had a complete brake job last year and a new battery. I also have 4 new tires and just in case, I have a spare in the trunk. I’m a zippy automatic with AC, PS, PB I’ve got pretty grey leather seats, a power sun roof, a fantastic new music system; (alpine deck with bluetooth, mp3, CD), My owner has kept up with all maintenance, I run great and I’m a GREAT DEAL

Although I’ve been lucky not to have been in any moving accidents, I’ve suffered a couple dings and dents . I took pictures of the front right bumper and back passenger rear panel. I’m still a beauty.Listing

138,548 miles, some body damage & rust spots, have most service records dating back almost 5 years. I bought the car used back in 2007 and have only put 60,000 miles on it since.

Ben at Complete Auto Repair here is West Seattle has been my mechanic since I moved here in 2011 from Bremerton.

It does need new brakes (about $250-$300) as the front right brake pad is rubbing on the sensor.

Great little get-around-town type of a car. :)

It’s time to replace my Integra. Everything out there seems to be 100 miles away, a rebuilt/salvage title, from the auction or a complete scam! Are you about to trade your car in? Or are you selling your old car? I have money, I need something with low enough miles (under 140K preferred) and mechanically in good or better condition. If the car has some damage that’s ok to a certain extent.

2002-2015 car low miles 100k or for sure under 140k with few exceptions (a really good deal would be an exception) No Chrysler or Dodge Hyundai Kia or other unreliable brands.

Acura Honda Toyota Volvo Nissan or other commuter type or better car or may consider suv van or truck if its right. Please no b.s. we know a lot about cars.
