The whole point of the regulation is to not give tax-exempt status to those groups that don’t deserve it. Reading the reg, it seems that your average Tea party organization sole purpose should not be political promotion but social welfare as a whole. This doesn’t even pass the straight-faced test. None of these organizations, Republican, “tea Party” or “Demo” should be tax exempt based on a reading of the regs. The fact they even applied is disgusting. Pay the taxes you owe. I do.
