I just re-registered (against my better judgment) to say, House:
If you don’t understand how historic and startling it is that the greatest statesman and orator of my generation was just elected president, and that that person happens to be African-American, and that millions of people around the WORLD have been touched my him in ways they didn’t know they could be touched, and that people stood in line for ten hours to vote for him–sometimes leaving hospital beds and their jobs to do so–and that a skinny intellectual guy with a funny name–a child of divorce, a child of many colors, a Generation Xer through and through–just changed the world….
If you don’t understand this, then you are too cynical and shallow to understand the United States, the greatest country in the world.
And about God: yeah, I think He did have something to do with it. But in ways I suspect you will never understand. Ever hear of hope outshining fear, of people’s best sides eclipsing their dark sides?
I didn’t think so.
