Frankly, the Federal government’s only remaining tool is to punish the banks by charging them a fee for using the Central Reserve as a bank–many banks are sitting on their cash and refusing to loan it out. But aside from that, what can the federal guv’mint do? Interest rates are approaching zero, the opposition party will gig the democrats for spending money in the name of the deficit while campaigning against the sunset of the Bush tax cuts for the rich. If these tax rates don’t rise, the deficit will be even worse.

An aside: What percentage of Americans think their families are in the top 1% of income? Answer: 15%. Everyone is above average, apparently.

So it was always acknowledged that this is a jobless recovery, which is not a surprise. We need to goad small business lending because there is a mountain of cash sitting on the sidelines (well, maybe not our specific cash, but someone’s cash–banks, investors, and companies).

So cheer up Jiggers, perhaps even literally with Carson’s offer.
