South Seattle Community College (WSB sponsor) announces that world-renowned Spanish musician Paco Díez will perform at the Northwest Wine Academy (NWWA) on Friday, March 7 with festivities beginning at 5 pm.

“Traditional Music, Tapas, and Wine with Paco Díez” will all be on offer as Díez fills the NWWA with ancestral music from Spain’s Castile and León region, using traditional instruments from the Iberian Peninsula. He is known for effortlessly switching between guitar, hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes and percussion while singing the songs of his ancestors rooted in the farmworker traditions of that region.

Díez will play from 5:30 to 7 pm, with tapas and Spanish wines served during the event (until 9 p.m.). Before the show, NWWA will also hold their Friday wine tasting from 1 to 5 pm.

Díez has made it his life’s work to capture and recreate sounds and traditions that may have otherwise vanished. He has performed over 2500 concerts worldwide and is recognized as an ambassador of traditional language and culture in Spain.

Contributions will be accepted at the door to help cover costs of the
event.
