Saturday and Sunday, May 13 and 14, at 7:30 – Mintun and Magor at the Duo Grands
Our Steinway is about to get a workout as we welcome Manhattan society pianist Peter Mintun to tickle its ivories. And I’m bringing my Kawai from home to join him in two concerts celebrating Mother’s Day.
Peter performs at Kenyon Hall whenever I can convince him to leave his cozy Washington Heights digs to spend some quality time here in the upper left hand corner. He brings with him an encyclopedic knowledge of music of the 1920s and ’30s, and a technique that leaves pianist colleagues and audiences gasping for breath. As Michael Feinstein has said, “When I grow up, I want to be Peter Mintun!”
Peter has uploaded dozens of his arrangements to YouTube. You can also visit his website, petermintun.com, for more information.
