This modification would remove the 30% daily limit of burning tires for fuel at Ash Grove, representing a potential increase in dangerous emissions for the Duwamish Valley. As many of you may know, on October 8th, the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency (PSCAA) did not listen to community voices and moved forward in the process by sending the Modification to the Environmental Protection Agency Region 10 (EPA R10). This began the 45-day review period for the EPA R10.
Despite our efforts, we are unsure if EPA R10 will listen to the voices of community members and oppose this change. If EPA R10 does not, this would mean that PSCAA could release the Final Permit Modification, implementing the change to the permit anytime after November 21st at 5PM.
Therefore, DRCC is organizing a protest at the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency Headquarters (1904 Third ave, Seattle, WA 98101) from 4 – 5:30 PM on Friday, November 21st, demanding the 3 C’s:
Consultation with overburdened & environmental justice communities
Commitments to public health & environmental justice communities upheld (from PSCAA Strategic Plan)
Concurrence with Federal Clean Air Act regulationsWE NEED YOUR HELP AND YOUR VOICE!
