Happy homecoming

kittyone.jpgWe promised you an update once it was confirmed: The cat pictured at right, found at 35th/Thistle and taken care of for more than a week before its finder e-mailed us for help, is now home. His name is Max; his owner saw Max’s photo on WSB just before catching a plane out of town but managed to get a housesitting friend to go retrieve Max and bring him home. Gotta love a happy ending.

Yeah! What a cutey – you guys do great work.

The guy who found Max e-mailed us an update – apparently Max is 17 years old and not an outdoor cat – he got away and even crossed 35th in the process. Wow! Truly an unusual lost-pet case.

this is crazy…he looks EXACTLY like our cat, also named Max. Not only that, I discovered this post when I was out of town and emailed my housesitter to make sure it wasn’t our Max. Strange coincidence, no?

Max’s owner had posted flyers around our neighborhood of 35th and Trenton. I guess he never dreamed that a 17 year old kitty would go the distance (only two blocks!) up to Thistle. Glad to read that they were finally re-united.

17! how old is that in “human years”?

  • ms_f October 11, 2007 (8:40 am)

17 would be about 84 years old in human terms. And for every year thereafter you add about four years. My kitty is over 17, is very active and can still jump up on the kitchen counter! Another sweet old guy with kidney problems died last year at 18. But cats can live to 20 and beyond.

We had a wonderful cat who lived to 18 1/2. She died in her sleep on a morning in late 1996 about the same time a “green flash” was reported across the early morning sky. We always wondered if she had something to do with that.

Sorry, comment time is over.
