More than just The Viaduct closing: Weekend citywide traffic alerts

Though our big street-closing festival is still two weeks away (West Seattle Summer Fest, July 10-11-12), much of the rest of the city has so much going on this weekend, we’re sharing the official SDOT advisory. Top of the list of what might affect you will be the Saturday Alaskan Way Viaduct closures for the Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon – this advisory amends the hours a bit – see what else is up; read on:

This weekend, Friday, June 26 through Sunday, June 28,

    Good grief!

Wow, what a weekend! What to do? Decisions, decisions…

(I’m leaning toward Artopia. Pride was fun when I lived on Capitol Hill, but parking will be a bitch this weekend and I expect the buses will be packed.)

geez, is that all that’s going on this weekend?

  • GenHillOne June 26, 2009 (9:55 am)

Is it just me or does that marathon closure seem excessive in both hours and area? I don’t recall the Seattle Marathon having such a broad impact.

Re: what’s going on this weekend, remember this is just the big alert from the city … Much in West Seattle too, which will be in the forthcoming WS Weekend Lineup. Including the Westwood Village Street Fair on the shopping center’s premises (we’ll have a table there, not sure exactly where on the site yet but the event’s 11 am-7 pm) .. TR

Wow, might be a good weekend to not leave our lovely peninsula at all. :)

  • swimcat June 26, 2009 (12:01 pm)

I think the road closures for the RNR marathon are longer b/c bands need time to set up and take down their equipment.

  • Paul in Gatewood June 26, 2009 (4:33 pm)

Oh yeah, and as it’s the last Friday of the month, Critical Mass is happening tonight. Time to leave downtown early…….

The “Viaduct Closed” sign was not working (i.e. lit up) Saturday morning at 8:15 on 35th near Alaska way.

Sorry, comment time is over.
