One fewer vitamin/supplement store in The Junction

Thanks to Keith for e-mailing to share the news that the Natureway vitamin/supplement shop cleared out of its Junction storefront over the past few days – we subsequently found the above-shown sign on its door on California north of Oregon. We had noted when Fresh Vitamins opened last August in Westwood Village that it was owned by the same company, and this sign indeed directs customers to visit that shop instead; if you want to stay in The Junction, of course, Super Supplements is at California/Alaska (though that building is to make way in the future for the Conner Homes development, which as first reported here earlier this week has its next Design Review meeting March 12), and as pointed out in comments, GNC has a branch in Jefferson Square. 9:55 PM UPDATE: Following up on a comment posted below this story, we’ve received confirmation tonight that Funky Jane’s Consignment will be the new tenant in the space vacated by Natureway. We tried to contact the store’s owner today but were unsuccessful; we’ll try again tomorrow, to get more details on their plan. (Their current space, like Super Supplements as mentioned above, is in one of the buildings that will be torn down when the Conner project at California/Alaska/42nd is bulit.)

I never quite liked that Super Supplements place. I’ll stick with GNC, one block away.

If you don’t have too much money in your pocket, you shouldn’t blow it on Vitamins that you don’t need with a balanced diet.

Maybe people have finally realized that vitamin pills are just a modern day snake oil cure-all. Unless your doctor indicates you have a particular need for them just eat healthy food instead.

There is that yuppie vitamin place across the street from Super Sups, also. I don’t really recommend it, though.

I also feel the need to rave for Super Sups. They’ve been really great every time I’m in there and they carry very high quailty supps. for super prices ;) But seriously, some people do need supps. and their fish oils, Rainbow Light, and Carlson lines cannot be beat.

And we Seattle peoples should be taking Vitamin D occasionally during winter. Highly recommend Carlson. Take it for one week and feel the difference.

yes people should eat their nutrients and vitamins.

but if you’re allergic to fish- the vitamin stores have DHA supplement that is vegetarian.
also- the doctors always tell the ladies to take their folic acid during pregnancy.

I like super supplements and their selection.
are they going to move back in the new development ?

definitely supplements are available myriad places – I think Ellenater refers to WSB sponsor Pharmaca, which is an “integrative pharmacy” — supplements but also conventional drugs, prescription and nonprescription (and, we learned after publishing our “welcome” a while back … chocolate!). Anyway, I think I’ll just change the headline to “one FEWER supplement store in The Junction,” covers all bases!

crap? ummm, yeah no. supplementts are not crap to those people who like myself, rely on them to get certain essential vitamins in their diet that they wouldn’t normally get (I’m not a big meat eater, and I rarely eat dairy). and as others have pointed out, there are individuals out there who are required to take supplements by their doctor, such as women who are pregnant, those who are battling a cancer or other diseases, women going through menopause, the elderly…vitamins aren’t crap, or a myth, or media hype to all of us.
I too like Supper Supplements. they have always been very helpful to me when I’ve been in there…I love the Rainbow Light line too elleneater! plus, they carry lots of great other stuff such as my Stevia that I can’t live without, the alba skin care line, Burt’s Bees, and my vegan protein powder.

The Fresh Vitamins store is great too! I like Super Sups too but sometimes WWood is a one stop for us. They have limited, but pretty good groceries there too which can save a trip up to PCC in a pinch. It’s great to have them on the south end.
I don’t get why people have to put things down. It’s so negative – I’m sure there’s a nutrient you are lacking to make you a little more upbeat!

“Supplements” are not all vitamins. I get certain supplements there that help control my cholesterol, naturally, without having to go on costly drugs!! So please, think about supplements differently than snake oil. They do work! If I couldn’t buy them locally in West Seattle, I’d have to mail order them and then I wouldn’t be supporting my local community.

I was sad to find that Nature’s Way had closed when I walked in yesterday to find everything cleared out, as I like to support the locals, as opposed to corporate. Michelle, who worked at the store on a regular basis, was always very helpful, and full of good information. I asked who I assumed was the owner, if Michelle was transferred to the store in Westwood, but she said no. If anyone has info on where she winds up, please post!

Super Supplements SUCKS the customer service is crap ola! Every time I go in there the people are in rank moods/ignore you/have no clue what they’re talking about/pretending to be busy stocking shelves. It’s called CUSTOMERS people, see how long you last with that crap “customer service” I have my receipt for some recent snake oil I was sold. I’m so sick of fake “supplements” that don’t work, I started saving my receipts to get my MOOLAH back. the bellevue or Udist super sup is the best by far but who wants to go way over there?
