During West Seattle Art Walk on December 10th:
VAIN West Seattle to host POLARITY, a show by
ceramic artist Sandra Farmer
Opening reception Thursday, December 10th 6-9 pmOn Thursday, December 10, VAIN West Seattle will host a reception for POLARITY, a new show by Seattle ceramic artist Sandra Farmer. This opening event will be part of December’s West Seattle Art Walk.
POLARITY explores issues of nurturing, fear, identity, and choice. The ceramic figures evoke the uncomfortable introspection that comes from uncertainty about one’s place in the world. “I use the figure to allow the viewer easier access,” Farmer asserts. “My goal is to connect to the viewer and get a response.”
Farmer earned her BFA in ceramics and a BIS in art therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her work focuses on figurative ceramics and mixed media. She has taught ceramics and art for the past ten years at a variety of locations, including the Children’s Museum of Richmond, VA, the Seattle Art Museum, the Seattle Children’s Museum, Pottery Northwest, Kirkland Arts Center, and Redmond Clay Studio.
POLARITY will be on display through the month of December.
