Would you like to brighten a cancer patient’s day?
In May 2011, I thought to myself “Life is good.” I was 25 years old. I had an amazing group of family and friends and a loving boyfriend. I was working at a job I loved and had just purchased a new condo.
But in one doctor’s appointment, my life was turned upside down. I was diagnosed with stage IV Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
I was terrified, but I was not alone. With the help of my family, friends, and complete strangers who reached out to me, I made it through 6 months of intense chemotherapy and kicked cancer’s butt!
Today, I am in full remission, and my life is more joyful than ever. But my fight is not over. I have started the non-profit foundation Thrive Through Cancer. Working under the guidance or Northwest Hope & Healing, and in partnership with Swedish Medical Center Foundation, Thrive will surprise newly diagnosed cancer patients with “Hope Totes,” bags filled with comforting and encouraging items to bring them joy, hope and, above all, let them know they are not alone. We care about their survival.
Because young adults facing cancer have unique challenges and fewer resources available to them, our program will serve cancer patients ages 18-39.

In celebration of their 2 year anniversary, bin 41 is partnering with Thrive to kick-off our fundraising efforts.

Please join me at the first Thrive Through Cancer wine tasting fundraiser on April 6th from 6 -8 pm at bin 41, 4707 California Avenue SW #A in West Seattle. For just $15 per person, or $25 per couple (CASH please), you can enjoy the delicious wines of Darby Winery plus bites provided by bin 41, Bakery Nouveau and Mashiko sushi.
100 percent of the cash donations will benefit Thrive Through Cancer. For every $25 we collect, we will create a Hope Tote for a patient who has just heard those terrifying words “You have cancer.”
We will also be hosting the first Drive 4 Thrive at the tasting to collect NEW items for Hope Totes including:

• Lotions (Sensitive skin, fragrance free)
• Nail polish
• Hats/scarves for men and women
• Socks for men and women
• Slippers for men and women
• Puzzle books
• Journals

Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy, located next door to bin 41, will be offering 10 percent off select merchandise for Hope Totes.
