Local version of `Antiques Roadshow’ coming to West Seattle!

Providence Mount St. Vincent will present Antiques Discovery Day, a local take on the famous “Antiques Roadshow” on Saturday, May 18, 2013, from 9 am to 2 pm.

The event, which will be held at Providence Mount St. Vincent’s Second floor Resident Lounge, 4831 35th Ave SW, in West Seattle, will also feature coffee, conversation and a Community Fair.

In the spirit of “Antiques Roadshow,” the popular PBS television program that features professional antique appraisers who reveal the history, lore and estimated current market value of privately owned treasures, the public is invited to bring old items such as paintings, rings, vases, powder jars, lamps, sconces, radios, etc. to be appraised.

Local appraisers will help determine the value of the family treasure you’ve always wondered about. These onsite experts will provide oral valuations of individual items for $5 per item (limit four items per person). All proceeds will benefit the residents and programs of “The Mount,” a senior living care facility that celebrates life, living and individual capability.

This team of knowledgeable and experienced appraisers are all donating their time and expertise for this event. Past events were highly successful and very popular. Because of this, participants will be helped on a first-come, first-served basis.

Guest appraisers include:

Pat Campbell, local expert and experienced appraiser

Kathleen Victor, ISA CAPP, International Society of Appraisers, Certified Appraiser of Personal Property, specializing in antiques and residential property

Don Jensen, ISA CAPP, Certified Appraiser of Personal Property, specializing in antiques; appraiser for “Antiques Roadshow”

“I love the excitement of discovery and placing a value for a client on a cherished piece of family history,” said appraiser Kathleen Victor.

While waiting to have items appraised, guests can also participate in a Community Fair, where they can speak to local experts about organizing personal items, real estate and “right-sizing,” estate sale preparation, retirement options and more. Attendees will also receive a complimentary copy of “Inspiring Conversations,” a booklet to help capture special memories with loved ones.
