Seahawks Victory Parade on Wednesday: Two updates

Two updates so far tonight on the Seahawks‘ victory parade planned downtown Wednesday – first, the city has just sent these details:

A welcome home Victory Celebration Parade is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 5.

The parade will begin just south of Seattle Center at Denny Way and travel south down 4th Avenue past Westlake Park and finish at the north entrance of CenturyLink Field, see a map of the route (here).

Participants include Seahawks Players, Head Coach Pete Carroll, Coaching Staff, Seahawks Executives, Sea Gals, Blitz and the Blue Thunder drumline. In addition, Governor Jay Inslee, King County Executive Dow Constantine, and Seattle Mayor Ed Murray will join the parade.

Seattle Police Department will close 4th Avenue at 10:30 a.m. and will reopen 4th Avenue as soon as possible. Fans are encouraged to gather early as big crowds are expected downtown and transportation delays are likely. There will be limited parking availability at CenturyLink Field. Fans should also try to carpool and utilize public transportation and dress warmly as the forecast calls for cold temperatures.

The City is deploying additional resources to ensure public safety and continuity of City services. Additional information about transportation options will be available midday on Tuesday, February 4.

Residents are encouraged to carpool or take transit to the victory parade. Parking will be limited and traffic is likely to be slow. For more information about the events on Wednesday, please visit Seahawks.com, where further details are available.

(We checked the Seahawks website but as of 9:30 pm, the item there had even less information, not more, but maybe it’s in the works.

Second – Salty’s on Alki (WSB sponsor) has just announced it’s offering free parking to anyone who’s taking the Water Taxi to the rally. We asked King County Department of Transportation this morning if they might add runs; we’re still waiting for the answer. If not, here’s the regular schedule – the last morning run from West Seattle is usually 8:45 am, with downtime until the 3:45 pm run from downtown to WS. We’ll have updates on bus schedules too, once those are out. We’re collecting all this information on the WSB Super Bowl page, which will stay up and running until the party’s over.

I sure how they add a mid-day run for the water taxi. That would help a lot of families who dont live around the C line.

  • C February 4, 2014 (8:32 am)

Our family is hoping to take it. Hopefully we hear soon.

  • A February 4, 2014 (10:00 am)

I’m also really hoping they add some more runs on the water taxi!

  • Karin February 4, 2014 (10:27 am)

They aren’t per the email response:
Thank you for your question to the King County Water Taxi regarding additional service for the parade.

Unfortunately we are limited to providing commute service during the winter schedule and will be unable to run midday on Wednesday.

I still have some hope of a reversal there but … I guess for now we’ll just have to plan for it NOT to be available, and if that changes, hooray. Outbound, anyway, it sounds like people will be staking out spots hours in advance, so the 8:45 final regular morning run isn’t so far out of the question.

how do people get tickets to the clink event at the end of the parade?

  • sad to miss it February 4, 2014 (11:27 am)

Still can’t believe that school personnel and students are excluded unless they skip school!! Why aren’t the schools closed for this like in other cities?? Or why wasn’t it held on a Saturday?? This is a big deal for us Seattleites!!

  • T.K. February 4, 2014 (1:29 pm)

Does anyone know how to get tickets to the rally? I logged on to the Seahawks schedule and can not find any info on it.

    • WSB February 4, 2014 (1:36 pm)

All I can find so far is that season-ticket holders received e-mail inviting them to reserve their free tickets by noon today. What’s next – I haven’t found yet but will keep looking around & will share on WSB when available … TR

Why are there sites everywhere talking about tickets available at 1 pm for the rally yet there is no where to go to download and print them?

  • HF February 4, 2014 (1:38 pm)

Tons of conflicting info about the rally & if tickets are required. I see nothing on the Seahawks website. WSB-hoping you can help get the real scoop!

  • LeAnn February 4, 2014 (1:39 pm)

I’m surprising my boys and taking them to the parade tomorrow. I would love to know how to get tickets for the “Clink” party.
What a great memory for all the kids young and old.
    Go Hawks!

  • T.K. February 4, 2014 (1:41 pm)

Thank you TR! Fox news stated that they will be available at 1:00 today for non-season ticket holders, which obviously is not true.

  • JET February 4, 2014 (1:45 pm)

Any news on where to get the tickets yet? I’ve logged on to Seahawks website and haven’t found anything yet

  • Stephanie February 4, 2014 (1:56 pm)

I have been looking everywhere for tickets. Anybody out there have any luck?

    • WSB February 4, 2014 (2:09 pm)

I have looked EVERYWHERE and everyone, including citywide media outlets, is awaiting the official word on this. Allegedly season-ticket holders who got theirs have been trying to SELL them on CL and elsewhere … I expect something definitive will eventually be out, but it’s not out yet. I’m watching Twitter, which is where it’s most likely to be out first …

It is truly ridiculous they are not adding ANY Sounder Train runs!! I’m disabled and can’t stay downtown out in the freezing cold ALL day!! What is it…”time for traffic problems in Seattle”? I can’t do the bus too fa to walk. As it is the Sounder Train is crowded on game day. They are only allowed to add 2 cars for tomorrow!! I’ve been waiting for this for 38 years!!
    Darn it!!
Hey Governor maybe instead of posing in pictures yoiu think outside if the immediate downtown Seattle area??
    Stuck in N Marysville.

I’ve heard from my friends with season tickets that they were all snapped up by season ticket holders. :(

  • Tim February 4, 2014 (3:02 pm)

All snapped up to sell on Craigslist for $100’s

  • Eray wells February 4, 2014 (4:56 pm)

Been waiting 38 years for this moment and it was worth the wait… Go Hawks…

  • Dunno February 4, 2014 (6:40 pm)

Season ticket holders paid our way so they have every right. 5 years ago there were plenty of season tickets. I’m not a season ticket holder.
The fact is many on the Seahawk bandwagon thought Century Link field was a waste of money.

  • Teri February 4, 2014 (7:51 pm)

All of the CLINK rally tickets were claimed by season ticket holders- there were only 50,000 available and they went quickly. Supposedly there are an additional 25,000 tickets for overflow at Safeco Field (watch ralley on large screen). I have been on the Mariners/Safeco ticketmaster site for hours now to try to get some of these tickets but it just keeps searching with the message: “Please wait while your request is being processed….An unusually large number of visitors are accessing our site. You have been placed in line and will be granted access to the site in the order in which you arrived.” Wish they would’ve been more clear about the need for tickets and how to get them! We will be cheering our Hawks on from wherever we are, but would’ve loved to have been there “live” to experience the 12th Man and our World Champs!

Are there any easily accessible areas to view the parade for people with disabilities?

How much walking will be involved with attending the rally at Safeco (I luckily obtained tickets after hours online)? Are there any easily accessible areas for the rally?

Sorry, comment time is over.
