WEST SEATTLE WEEKEND SCENE: Classic BMW car show at Don Armeni Boat Ramp

Don Armeni Boat Ramp often sees groups gather to show off cars – but what’s under way at the park right now appears to be more official than most: the 24th annual 020202 Show and Swap with owners of BMW 2002s (that’s the model, not the year).

Thanks to Ian for the tip, photos, and even this link about the show, which is set to continue until 2 pm.

Dang it! Another cool car event I have to miss due to work.

The BMW 2002 will always be one of my favorite  cars.   The body style is perfection.  The closest I could afford was a classic Datsun 510.  Pretty close looking.

Datsun 510s are the original performance sedan and you can keep them running forever with a hammer and screwdriver.

Indeed. Beautiful classic cars that please the eye standing still.  Not like the modern versions that seem to rely on big grills outlined with LED lights.  I had a mystery vehicle in my rear view mirror last night that had enough LED bling to attract even the most discerning purveyor of transactional company.  Needless to say I laughed out loud when  the BMW SUV went by me.   Definitely not going to be a classic 50 years from now.

Amen.  Last night while sharking for parking at Safeway, I saw a large pickup parked with its grill lights putting on a moving light show.  This went on for a couple of minutes even though there was no one in or near it.  Smh.

I remember wanting to buy a cute 1976 2002 back in 1981 when I was just a kid. Although someone else beat me to it, that little car has always been able to turn my head.
