BIZNOTE FOLLOWUP: Checking back with Panda Express

When last we checked in with Panda Express regarding their yet-to-open Westwood Village restaurant, they were hoping for an early August opening, barring construction delays. That’s come and gone, so we asked about their revised timeline. A company spokesperson replied, “Our opening date keeps shifting … The newest Seattle location now has a tentative opening date sometime the week of Sept. 8.” It’s been in the works for almost two years.

We peeked in the space today. It looked like there were still boxes of things needing to be unpacked. Looking forward to the opening!

Glad to hear they’ll be opening soon. Maybe I missed it, but is there anything planning on going into the Bed,Bath Beyond space or the RiteAid spot?

      (a) Spirit Halloween will be back again this year for a few months, as we noted recently (and they were bringing in merchandise today). Longterm, still no.
      (b) No.

I haven’t eaten at a panda express. What are blog readers favorite items? I read good things about the teriyaki chicken and one of the beef dishes (forget the full name my. It wasn’t broccoli beef). Several folks like the orange chicken. Was reading opinions from online forums. Clearly I cannot sleep…

The eggplant tofu is my favorite.

my favorite too but they almost never serve it anywhere anymore  two votes for tofu eggplant!

You can get food with actual vegetables in it for $10. That’s the appeal for me. But how healthy it is is up to you. Orange chicken is 550cal, being fried and glazed in sugar, but broccoli beef or green bean chicken is maybe 180cal so is more reasonable.

Hope this will be one of the locations with the “vegan” chicken options!

        Support Toshis next door!!

Toshi’s serves completely different food from Panda Express.  If I’m in the mood for Toshi’s I’ll go to Toshi’s, but if I’m in the mood for Panda Express, I’m going to Panda Express.

Animal: I’ve eaten at Panda a lot. I’ve had Panda’s non-real chicken or whatever it’s called once. Realized the next day it was the reason I felt queasy.

Panda Express actually created orange chicken, so if you like it normally you have to try the original.

teriyaki chicken, humm. They just might give Toshis some stiff competition.

      I really like Toshi’s

We never noticed this before but today while at the Fred Meyer’s in Burien we noticed the teriyaki restaurant by the Jack in the Box is a Toshi’s. never knew/noticed before???And while in WC we saw a cleaning company crew at the Wendy’s which means it is even closer to opening.

Panda Express is not competition for any business. It is high fat, high sodium, high sugar, with poor quality protein.  If it’s your fast food choice, go for it.  Just pay attention if your gut hurts after eating it.

That’s where I’m at too unfortunately. Over the years I’ve tried and tried but end result is not feeling good. Some people can tolerate their food.

Thanks for the update WSB, I’m counting down the days until I can stop driving to Southcenter lol.

There’s one in Burien.  You don’t need to go all the way to Tukwila.

It’s hard to believe all the hype over this. It’s greasy fast food… Like Taco Bell or McDonalds. Dear lord, there are better locally owned eateries.

Truly baffling. Been reading the comments wondering if I was the only one not in on some kind of joke.

I’m new to West Seattle. What is the best Chinese restaurant in West Seattle?

        • Susan August 23, 2025 (5:57 pm)

Young’s is great, and they have Thai and Chinese.
