WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Seen this car? Police asking for your help finding it (update: found)

6:53 PM: For the past three or so nights, police have been trying to catch a group speeding around West Seattle in the same stolen car. Today, they took the unusual step of asking us to circulate a description of this car, in hopes somebody will spot it – parked or moving. It’s a 2018 white four-door Hyundai Elantra, no plates, usually seen with four ski-masked people on board, traveling 70 to 80 mph, no lights. They have pursued it, police tell us, but unsuccessfully. We asked police if there are any other distinguishing features you would notice, but they said no. If you think you see it – again, either moving or not – call 911.

7:57 PM: Update – the vehicle has been recovered, police just told us.

I have not seen it, but it would be helpful to know from the police when it’s been out? Late night? Early morning? It’d be helpful for them to supply a picture or video as well. It’s interesting that the police have not been able to successfully pursue it. Makes me wonder if we’re that severely lacking in police support or if the area is unsafe for a high-speed chase, or for other reasons. 🤔

Word on the street is that exact description has been seen at all of the 7-11s almost every night. I trust Hyundais about as much as I trust politicians.

I hope the masked occupants of the speeding car were also apprehended???? And some consequences come their way!

I’d love for the dune buggy that has been terrorizing South Delridge to be taken off the roads and, in particular, my alley!!!

Let’s be honest: if SPD started cracking down on illegal vehicles—especially the ones with modified exhausts—they’d pick up a whole lot of folks with warrants

What I see here, I hope, is that the public responded to the SPD request for info. And, people are saying enough. We need to do this more. SPD cannot be everywhere all the time so I encourage people to report when something is not correct. Everyone has a cell phone.

A typical speed bump (not a Seattle speed pillow – I mean the standard speed bump you see everywhere else that communities are begging for) would disable a vehicle driving that fast.

There has been a definite increase in cars without license plates, as well as the ones with Suspicious paper license plates.  Maybe SPD should park in unmarked cars and start looking for these people driving down the street and pull them over and get them off the street because most of them are thugs.

Witnessed a temp paper plated white suv Toyota suv side swipe a Tesla model y this afternoon right at the Chelan Cafe / Spokane intersection.  She ran a red and then left the scene.  So be careful out there.

Sorry, comment time is over.
