TRAFFIC ALERT: Westbound bridge’s west end reopened

5:43 PM: Traffic headed toward the west end of the westbound West Seattle Bridge is being detoured onto Admiral. We are not seeing any current crash reports but a reader did note that jersey barriers in the area were out of place earlier.

6:02 PM: Checking the live camera, westbound traffic is flowing to the Fauntleroy end of the bridge, so the blockage/closure is over.

Just drove that treacherous curve with wild pavement undulations and transitions from grooved to smooth in heavy droplet downpour.
My  2007 Honda Ridgeline, fair tires, navigated it at 40 mph with others successfully passing in left lane.  No one lost control at well above the speed for conditions.

I predict the pitchforks will be out based on that update

I would estimate I have driven across the bridge 7000 times since I moved here.  I lost control and hit the jersey barrier at least 6980 times.

Are you trying insinuate that you and your “truck” handled that stretch just fine and that it’s always the driver’s fault if they have issues there?

Even if you ignore all the people who say issues happen with rear wheel drive trucks, you still have an advanced all wheel drive system that prevents this exact issue from happening.

So lighten up on the attitude.

“The 2007 Honda Ridgeline is a four-wheel drive (4WD)vehicle. It uses Honda’s i-VTM4 (Intelligent Variable Torque Management) all-wheel drive system, which automatically distributes power between the front and rear wheels. While 4WD and AWD both send power to all wheels, the Ridgeline’s system is designed for more everyday driving and all-weather conditions, according to Honda’s website. “

I have yet to see a single soul ever take that curve at the posted speed limit. I think they drive even faster in the rain.

I drive a rear wheel pickup truck.   You bet I go a max of 30 mph when it’s wet.   I don’t care who’s  riding my bumber.

Jersey barriers were definitely hazardous this morning. Looked like a car hit it from the eastbound direction and pushed a few just barely into the center most lane. Glad they probably fixed it. Wonder when they were hit recently to push them around.
