That’s a chocolate waffle that a WSB reader reports getting at Happy Lemon on Alki as its second customer during a soft open today. It’s been 7 1/2 months since we reported the chain planned to open its second West Seattle shop at 2718 Alki SW, which had been vacant since a dry cleaner closed six years ago. (Friday, January 31, is official opening day, according to this page. Our tipster says they’re planning specials Friday and Saturday.)
Alki has had one recent opening (Gary’s Place) and two recent closures (Alki Café and Locust Cider). The replacement for Alki Starbucks (coffee & ice cream) is still on the way. – TR
Stopped by Happy Lemon after our delicious dinner at Fire Taco. We enjoyed the chocolate bubble waffles. Nice to have great dining choices in West Seattle!
So more ridiculously unhealthy food that is highly processed and filled with sugar. Probably cheap to make too. Is there a single item on the menu that is actually good for you? It’s a serious question. At least at Alki Pho or Fire tacos there are lots of options at each that are good for you. Junk like this is incredibly bad for everyone especially kids. Now cue everyone telling me I don’t have to eat there (which I won’t). Thanks captain obvious.
Three bobsa tea places on Alki is a lot of plastic cups, straws, and film (to seal the drink) making their way into the water and the marine foodchain. Sure wish these beach front businesses would use compostable products
100% agreed. I’m tired of seeing more and more cafe’s not considering the waste they produce by selling their products.
They gave a buy 1 get 1 free promotion today (on a limited drink menu). The promo is today only (Feb 1st).
I hope they do well. I also hope there is also a fast casual healthy food option (salads, for example) that comes to Alki one day.
