A Gatewood resident reports “completely brown water coming out of our tap” as of late tonight. No emergencies (or planned work) on the Seattle Public Utilities map. But if you’re in that area, check yours, especially before doing any laundry; if you have discolored water, there or elsewhere, always report it to SPU at 206-386-1800. 24/7.
We had the brown water last night as well. Still discolored this morning. Will report.
I’m new to the Gatewood area. Is there a reason Gatewood specifically seems to have so many incidences of brown water?
Not sure but I also live in Gatewood (for the last decade) and have never been able to replicate the brown water reported on the blog.
For what it’s worth, I’ve lived in Gatewood 5 years now and it’s never happened to me than these recent instances. Wondering if maybe they just neglected hydrant maintenance and are getting caught up?
We had brown water over the weekend, as did our neighbor. He called the fire department and they confirmed they were doing hydrant maintenance around Gatewood.
