That bike trail spur closure gives bikes another opportunity to make bad choices at that busy intersection. Note that it’s very close to where the hit and run fatality occurred. I see many bikes scream down off the bridge and fly eastbound across the intersection. My personal route always includes the “spur” as I generally dislike stopping/disrupting traffic at the crosswalk by pushing the button and waiting for the signal. During the construction closure, that’s the only way to cross. Do not just blow into the intersection!

I’ve never understood shortcutting of the spur and risking life and limb to save what, 15 seconds?

I prefer using the spur rather than crossing at that intersection. During the closure, cyclists will be congregating at either side of the intersection waiting to cross Spokane. Others will opt to head East. It would be good to slow down on the approaches and signal intentions to other riders. Thank you!

Sorry, comment time is over.
