WEST SEATTLE COYOTES: Gatewood sighting

Continuing to chronicle the resurgence of coyotes in our area, we received this report from Yma in Gatewood: “Big, healthy-looking coyote trotting up the sidewalk tonight – about 10:20. Gatewood: Portland St between California & 41st.” Remember that you can best support a keep-our/their-distance coexistence by not providing food – from pet food to unaccompanied pets.

Cool  ! ! !Please, please, please keep your cats inside, especially at night! That big healthy coyote would make a quick meal of “Taco”,  the sweet neighborhood kitty that visits occasionally. That would be bad.  ):From a “Portland Street Neighbor”

Thanks for the heads up! Taco is our kitty and we will be sure to start bringing him in earlier. No doubt he would try to befriend the coyote like he does with other dogs.

There are four coyotes that have taken two cats on our street recently (41st Ave in Gatewood). Hopefully they won’t get any more!

4 coyotes were seen in broad daylight in a yard on the corner of 41st and SW Holly on Thursday. Please be careful and keep your cats in the house. Christine
